this hotel is very very quiet. if you are looking for a relaxing getaway to do nothing but sit by the beach and/or pool..then this place is it for you. most of the people that stay here are older and are timeshare owners. there aren't any activities for the children to do. the pools are very plain. the beach is nice for children since it's a private beach and very shallow and calm. the restaurant on site is surprisingly very good. our hotel room was a studio which means we had a limited kitchen and two double beds. i cannot even begin to tell you how bad the room smelled of mold. no matter how much a/c we put, it was still so terrible. the rooms are only cleaned once a week so the day it's cleaned, the smell of mold improves but then gets bad again. the towels are changed and the garbage is taken out every day but no cleaning is done in the rooms. the people who work at the resort are extrememly friendly and helpful and make sure they know you by name. Curacao itself is a beautiful island and the people are very nice. if we were to return, we would not stay at this resort since it just doesn't meet the needs of families travelling with young children with regard to activities to keep them busy. this is an average hotel at best. i would recommend staying at the marriot for a more "resort" atmosphere.

We purchased a suite there 5 years ago and due to family weddings we were finally able to return this year. Best vacation ever, they were working on the sea wall but if you didn't want to deal with the noise we just went to the beach which was great. The work has to get done sometime! We had dinner twice at Augustos and were pleased both times contrary to other reviews. There are 3 restaurants that will send a free shuttle for you to the resort and return you after dinner. El Forno is a wood fired pizza, pasta restaurant and the food was delicious. El Gaucho is the steak house with steak to die for, actually melts in your mouth - you have to try both places - El Gaucho sets up on a hill overlooking the island. The Wine Cellar also provides transportation, we did not go there but is abit more of a fancy restaurant. The resort has a free shuttle that will take you to the grocery store and to Punda to shop and back. Our suite is pool side at the ground level and is a perfect location. The staff is friendly, say hello to Alex the Activities Directory when you are there, she is a bubble ready to burst! We actually purchased another week while there so when we return we can now stay for 2 weeks. You will not be disappointed!!

Stayed there for a week from 4/4/09 - 4/11/09. Loved this place. Reviews are accurate. Onl;y down side was they were rebuilding the sea wall while we were there. No big deal. Great location. Right near Mambo Beach some well priced if rather medicre restaurants. Highly recommended.

My wife and I purchased a "villa" (5 beds/split unit) in 2003 (timeshare) and are continually impressed year after year with the AMAZING personability of the staff, who will NOT pass by without saying hello with a smile.

This special place in Curacao is highly visible from the shoreline down the road from Punta (center of town) as a gleaming gold colored man made island with only 38 units right next to the Sea Aquarium (dolphin show/encounters). Although the man made island consists of a public Sea Aquarium plus the Royal Resort units, the security is careful to only allow our guests access to the private beach, pools, hottub, etc.

Each new January stay brings a rush of familiar native faces who recognize us and we are so happy with this special fantasy island, that we have cancelled our Interval membership (for exchanging timeshare) as we plan ONLY on Curacao/Royal Resorts for our future family stays.

Many tourists come on Cruise Ships to Curacao for the first time, fall in love, and purchase a timeshare there. We came to a Visual DataFlex computer software conference, toured the units for fun, and were so impressed that we came back the next day and purchased. We have never ever regretted this decision.

Did you know that the snorkeling in Curacao is rated among the highest in the Caribbean? Did you know that the thrilling gentle waters are TOTALLY FREE of sharks on this side of the island? We spoke to natives who have never ever heard of a shark incedent on the lee side of the island, have never heard of divers reporting one, and now my wife and I swim in these fantastic coral studded bays and inlets holding hands romantically and forget our life (and the January Snow) in Boston completely.

This year, I met a consultant working for Royal Resorts, whose job it was to find out WHAT MADE THIS LOCATION OF ROYAL's the FRIENDLIEST and MOST POPULAR of all their locations. As I rode back to the units from the grocery store with him, I explained that the local native workers grow up in an environment where it is rude to pass by without saying a friendly hello, plus the fact there are only 38 units total. This attitude is catching, and all the guests seem to pick up on it, and return the favor by saying hello to each other as we pass.

The organization Royal Resorts has a "down home" reputation among us as straight shooters and honest representation (they're Miami based).

The economy is pressing all of us, especially with Real Estate worries, but we feel our "investment" in tropical paradise is the best gift to ourselves and our children we ever made. Oh yes! Don't forget the "wet and wild" nightlife on Mambo Beach! Well, that's for our children, (usually), lol.

Summing it up, if you want a beautiful private palm tree studded beach with just a few friendly co-owners, wonderful friendly neighbors, private restaurant/pub, amazing blue carribean waters to dive or snorkel holding hands, to make YOUR tropical get-away (a present for yourself) then I wholeheartedly recommend the Royal Sea Aquarium Resort in Curacao. We are the total envy of our friends and relatives!

We have visited over 10 islands in the Caribbean via timeshare trades and this was our favorite condo. We had an ocean front, spacious and well appointed 1 bdrm unit. The staff were competent, helpful, and friendly. The resort is clean and well maintained. This is a place for quiet vacations. We did not use the pool or beach, the latter just looks out across a channel towards other hotels' crowded beaches and restaurants. We rented a car and this gave us the freedom to explore, try other restaurants. The food we had at this resort's restaurant was medioocre and the wine was terrible. But the resort itself is fantastic for a quiet getaway. We could have watched the dolphin show daily as we overlooked the aquarium but we have a problem with creatures in captivity. That did not affect our vacation however.

Royal Sea Aquarium Resort-Curacao
Nov 2008

My visit to the resort was wonderful, peaceful and friendly. I was visiting with a friend who owned a condo there. After sitting on her beautiful balcony and viewing the blue water and sailboats,I decided this was the place for me. I purchased a unit at the same resort. I can't wait to return.

The people were friendly ,staff accommodating and the service was good. The suite was well maintained. We experienced one problem with our safe but the staff repaired it immediately. The food in certain areas is a little better than others. But I did enjoy the food at royal resort.

The water rocky and I am hoping they removed the tractor from the beach property. Service on the beach was slow, but so is the island.

I truly enjoyed my visit and the wonderful staff at the front desk. Can't wait to return.

I am 8 months late writing this review, as I got sick while there..nothing due to them.
I feel compelled to write and sing the praises of the staff here.
They went out of their way to assist us....one staff member even came with us in our car to direct us to a medical supply store that was hard to find. They also let us use their private offices for phone calls, helped us find a doctor, pharmacy and provided a wheelchair! Just a wonderful group of people who truly care about your vacation experience.

The resort is in a great location....next to the Sea Aquarium. We were lucky enough to have an end unit. We could sit on our balcony and watch the dolphins every day. I believe every room there has an ocean view, and it is a great view. As mentioned, the sunsets are amazaing, and during the day, you can watch them take the dolphins out in the open sea, watch boats go by...
We had a 2 bedroom unit...very spacious. Nice full kitchen, large walk in closets, nice bath/sink areas (separate).

The swimming beach is nice but small, and is on a channel of sorts, not viewing the open sea. The pool overlooks the sea.
Nice pool...lots of chairs, and never even close to being crowded. WE used the covered cabanas with plush pillows facing the sea...HEAVEN!
Magnificent sunsets...different colors every night.

Resort is close to downtown. WE had a car and went to the grocery store. But I think they had a shuttle that would take you there. They also had a boat excursion (evening) to Willemstad, which I really wanted to go on but couldn't.

Small lobby but nice and friendly. Daily coffee and juice, small library of books and videos and a computer,,,which we really needed. The resort is also not far from the airport, and the airport is nice and modern.

Across the channel there are a few resorts...Breezes is one, and a few shops.

I can't say enough about this place, especially the staff. We hope to get back someday to really enjoy everything it has to offer.
