The hotel is not what most Americans would associate with a luxury resort. So we booked online after reading reviews where were mostly positive so we were a little taken by surprise. First, let me say that the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The “rooms” are actually like small bungalows with French doors that open to the outside court yard. Ours was somewhat spartan in decor and small in size. We actually did not have room to open two suitcases and had to take turns. Our king sized bed was actually 2 twins pushed together which was somewhat uncomfortable. The bathroom had a constant moldy smell. The staff was not particularly helpful. I asked if it was possible to checkout late and was told “not a chance”. Nothing else. It was not until later that I learned that I could lock my luggage up and use their shower/ changing room. Every morning the hotel offers breakfast- at $15 a person it is way over priced. Maybe it was just the time of year but the average age at the hotel seemed somewhat > 65. The hotel is located near Jan Thiel beach which has + and - . The beach isn’t bad but It is somewhat crowded. There are grocery stores, restaurants and ATMs all within walking distance. The problem is the restaurants. Expensive and mediocre service. Later in the trip we stumbled on Mambo beach. Better selection of restaurants that were generally 1/3 the cost and twice the quality three times the service. I will be back to curaçao- but next time I’ll stay elsewhere- probably in the Mambo area.
If there is one bright spot it would be the dive shop which was helpful and friendly.

The hotel is pretty close to Jan thiel beach and it’s located in the Dutch side of the island, the room we stayed at was pretty nice and clean, there’s no shampoo in case you care, the breakfast was great tho most of the food was a bit cold, the WiFi at the room is super great since every room has its own WiFi, overall pretty great.

Close to the beach this resort was a very satisfying first contact with Curaçao!
We had villa #29: plenty of room, recent bathroom, spatious kitchen, terrace, good aircos, big fridge, nice TV, good WIfi ... 2 bedrooms with 2 beds, all ok!!!
(Some friends were in smaller appartments with less comfort, bad shower ... )
Breakfast is ok, but some days too crowdy.
Service at the bar is rather slow, closes already at 23h (????).
Very good snacks/plates!! Will go back soon or late, happy guest!

Room tip: Ask for a standalone small villa (e.g. number 29)

We stayed in Villa #25

1. The air conditioner in the small bedroom dripped a steady stream of condensate onto the bed. It was repaired after a several hour wait and mattress replaced but the next day it repeated. Not good maintenance. Once is understandable but twice?

2. The electricity to the villa failed completely while we were at dinner. Maintenance responded quickly and reset the circuit. Yea. The covers on the breaker boxes were missing on our villa as well as the next door unit. Could be a safety issue if kids should mess around over there.

3. The irrigation system uses recycled water. That is good but the water smells like sewage and the smell comes into the house. Not really a pleasant smell. This is a known problem and should be easy to correct. The place stinks.

4. There is no curtain or door between the bathroom and the bedroom which is a minor discomfort.

Other than that, the location is great, villa roomy, beds comfortable when not wet, the beach is terrific and it is really close to a supermarket with great bread. We had a good time overall but they should pick up their game a bit. I know this might be the island lifestyle but still it was expensive and a vacation should be nice.

Room tip: The porch of the villas is very nice and we spent evenings there playing board games. Watch for mosquitoes
