Almost turned around and left when we got here as there didn't seem to be that much "beach". But decided to give it a try and ended up enjoying an afternoon here.

Full-service beach bar had Euro 2012 on the TVs. Decent bathrooms. A float to swim out to and lay like walruses. A separate beach area with shallower waters, more sand, and decent snorkeling if you swim out a ways. Some nice rolling waves. Was a little crowded but not terribly so. The usual nominal charge for entrance and chair rental. The stairs down to the water were kind of gross and slippery. And I got stung by a bee.

Other than that it was nice enough for an "easy access" beach. We'd been driving from the Hyatt to the west side beaches every day and just wanted to not drive so far for one day. I'd go again. This time with bee repellent. :)

We went to mostly all the popular beaches in Curacao. Loved Knip bay, but there are lot of rocks & corals. We couldn't find a single beach on Curacao where you can actually feel the sand under your legs while in the water. Jan Thiel Beach has rocks/corals as you enter the water, however once you go little in, you can actually feel the smooth sand which was nice. Its very calm water. Happening beach, with beach cabanas and lots of food options. There is a volley ball court. While there you have to try the gelatos at Bella Italia.

Jan Thiel has lots of loungers, shallow water, a restaurant, and is simply a nice, comfortable beach to bring your kids and enjoy time in the water.

The new shopping area and Casino are a must see. And the Restaurants Tinto, Zeist, Papagayo are beautiful and special. Dip into the ocean or the "Sea Pool". Saturday night is the night to party at Zanzibar!
