After eating here one day, we ate here for lunch for 3 consecutive days. Had the goat and oxtails from #3 and stewed chicken from #2. They were all very nice at each but the owner of #3 comes out and takes orders himself and takes time to talk to you but they are tight with their plantains. Didn't get a chance to try #6 but it looked very popular as well. Can get pretty much the same dish at every stand.

This is an authentic experience in Curacao dishes, the kind of inexpensive food stall food one might see from Anthony Bourdain on his series. There are six foodstands with picnic tables, we ate at the 2nd one from the right, with the heart that says "Love" over it. Try the goat, it is tender and delicious. The chicken was also good. In either case, be careful for bones, the meat is not deboned and is chopped up so there are some occasional small bones and slivers that could prove dangerous. Basically, use common sense and you'll be fine. The rice and beans was also delicious, and the plates come with a couple of slices of fried plantain, a "salad," and on one day, a slice of fresh avocado. The bill for two plates and two Amstel lagers was right at $20.

Who said delicious has to be elegant?!
This is as typical as it gets , good, authentic, high calorie local cuisine served with big smiles!!
It's a marketplace that has been transformed into a communal eating space with shared tables in a yummy and noisy atmosphere!!
A must visit for a real piece of Curacao!!

Under one tin roof, Plaza Bieu offers fresh charcoal cooked local food at six different restaurants serving cheap delicious food picnic table style. It's open M-F for lunch late morning to early afternoon. Plaza Bieu is on the Punda side of Willemstad downtown near the waterfront and a stones throw from the concrete open market rotunda/building. If driving, park at the rotunda, remember your space number, pay in guilders (coins) at a parking machine and place the ticket on your dash. Any local will direct you to Plaza Bieu.

You can bring your own beverages into Plaza Bieu and a delicious option is just outside the door at the little trailer labeled 100% Batido's - fresh made-to-order frozen fruit drinks for only a few bucks. Back to Plaza Bieu - the first vendor on the left, Yvonne di Plaza, has fresh pumpkin pancakes for only a buck each. Take some to go in foil or sit at the green tablecloth section (which designates Yvonne's area) for table service. Yvonne also serves soups and more: Kabriju Sjoba, Sjoba di Baka or di Weja, Galinda di Smoor, Dradu, Boonchi Kora...who knows the translation, but I would try anything made there!

Overall, Plaza Bieu is a friendly fun local weekday lunch spot with fresh food and a smile.

If you craving local food, here's the place to be. The amient is just as local as the food. If you know about taste, you surely know that food cooked on charcoal based fire tastes the best.
