This is a very nice village in Willemstad, Curacao. We enjoyed it very much.
Little streets and nice buildings. Really Curacao.

The little village of restored buildings was very interesting and well done. We "travelled" through rooms of history of Africa. The accounts of the slave trade were a sad commentary of man's treatment of fellow man. As an educator who has taught about the slave trade, I had seen pictures but never the real chains of many which were shown. My sister knew very little and it was an eye-opener for her. Well worth the time.

Quite hard hitting about the slave trade, but interesting none the less.

It was very quiet when i went. Staff were helpful and let you browse in peace. You get a free coffee at the bar with your ticket, which is nice to.

This museum is connected to the Kura Hulanda Hotel - it is on the hotel grounds within the little village of restored buildings. Do get a guide. Trying to make sense of everything collected here without her would be hard - there is so much. The history of slavery is comprehensive and moving - but they don't stop there - there are rooms dedicated to the civil rights movements in US and South Africa, there are rooms dedicated to the art and archeology of various African nations and cultures. There are beautiful sculptures designed for the museum and examples of indigeneous Curaco architecture. Go - its inexpensive, beautiful, meaningful.

Interesting collection of arts and antiquities. Small but quaint, and worth the visit if you're in Curacao.
