“Less than average”

Less than average attraction for such a big hype. We took a bus tour which happened to stop at the distillery and we were expecting some neat stuff since it's a pretty we'll known thing for Curacao. We got there around 1:30 and there was another tour which made it very crowded and hard to see. However, there is not much to see. You basically walk down a hallway of pictures and explanations of the history of making the liqueur. It takes about 5 minutes. At the end there is a gift shop where you can purchase all the favors of Curaçao. You may also have a taste of a few samples. They had three flavors out for us to try. And that's the end of the tour. I'd really skip it if it's not included on a tour you plan to already do. It's out of the way and you can purchase curaçao in almost any gift shop or market on the island.

It seems every tour stops here at the same time so the place is ridiculously crowded. Samples are tiny and there is a long line. However, the most interesting part is the description of the Jewish community history in Curacao. The distillery was begun by Jews and there was a video of some kind behind locked doors just about impossible to see. This place needs a major upgrade if it wants to remain tourist friendly.

Reviewed October 8, 2013

We visited the distillery last week and our goal was to buy a bottle of Curacao. But there was at least 3 buses full of tourists and only one cashier to help everybody. So we couldnt buy even one...

“Don't miss it”

Although we didn't see much of the actual brewing process, we did see displays and learned all about the liqueur. The best part is that you get to taste several samples. We tasted four samples, including the famous blue and a chocolate flavor. Of course you get the opportunity to buy some to take home. This is definitely the best souvenir from your trip. They even have lovely little Delft china bottles.

“Charming little Liqueur Distillery with a big name.”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

A visit to the Curaçao Liqueur Distillery is like a trip back in time. The distillery has not changed much over the years and is mainly a tourist attraction in a beautiful setting of a old plantation house.
