“Beautiful Dutch Style Building”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

Cross the Queen Emma Bridge to get to these buildings. There are several places to eat with outdoor seating that line the front of these buildings. There isn't a whole lost past this street. There is a floating market and some stores that all close around 6pm. There are a lot of abandoned buildings and some dilapidated buildings just past this street. The view from the other side of the channel is the best for pictures.

“Colorful Buildings”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013

Colorful buildings along the water with great views. The shopping is lacking. Very few restaurants. Fun music playing at the Iguana Cafe.

“Curacao's calling card”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

Handelskade is the waterfront street on the Punda side of the channel with 15 distinct buildings in beautiful Caribbean pastel colors. It is simply the most photographed view in Curacao. The combination of pastel shades and gabled Dutch influenced architecture is very pleasing to the eyes. Most of the buildings have offices, shops and restaurants so they are not just empty facades. Iguana Cafe is in one of these. The most impressive building from 300 years ago is the one on the corner near the Queen Emma Bridge which is the Penha Building. Take a few minutes to admire all the architectural features on the facade of this building. Then go around the back of these buidlings where the entrances to the various shops are situated on a pedestrian street.

“Incredible.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2012

Beautiful area of town, very colorful. Lots of great shopping and dining. You can't visit Curacao without going to the famous Handelskade. I miss it already! Bring comfy shoes and something to drink. It's very hot and there are so many stores that you'll want to allow a few hours for exploring. Don't forget your camera!
