“One visit is enough”
Reviewed March 14, 2011

The Rif Fort is located in Otrabanda, across the river from Punda. It is by far the most touristy part of Wilemstad. All major retailers like Tiffany's Mango, etc., are here. The Rif Fort as a structure is fun to visit. But it's filled with tourists from the cruise ships who flood the area when boats dock. There are some nice restaurants there but I prefer Punda for it's architecture and quaint characteristics. The Rif Fort is worth seeing once, but isn't all there is to Wilemstad.

“nice shopping/ dining area”
Reviewed June 13, 2010

Ignore the earlier reviews - it is actually quite well-developed now. The shops are a bit touristy, and you will find likely higher prices at the establishments there, but it is nice and the views of the harbor from the various bars/ restaurants inside make it a worthwhile stop. It is located directly across the pontoon bridge, on the Otraband side of Willemstad.

“Want to look like a clueless tourist and spend too much money?”
Reviewed June 1, 2010

If so, Riffort is the place to be.
To save you the time of going and finding out for yourself: It used to be a fort, now it's basically an outdoor shopping mall, cruise ships dump their passengers there to spend money.
There are stone walls, some slots where cannons used to be, and high end shopping.

“Just go for Bistro Le CLochard”
Reviewed September 6, 2005

Not much to see in the way of shops, but it did look like they were adding new stores. The views and the old structure were really cool, but the gem here is the restaurant Bistro Le Clochard! Our most romantic and delicious evening was spent here!
