Very interesting to watch this movable floating bridge open up for ships to pass. Worth a visit. We were on the bridge when it was moving

“Got to see the bridge open!”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

A must! After we crossed, the alarms sounded and they slowly opened the bridge to admit a ship coming thru.

“A must-do in Curacao”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

My family visited Willemstad for a day during our recent vacation in Curacao and walked across this bridge to visit the Punda side for shopping. It was quite an experience, unlike anything else really. If you have motion sickness, you might feel a touch of that because the bridge is moving slightly the entire time, but don't let that stop you....it was such a cool thing to do. While we were on it, it opened to let 2 boats pass through. We were close to the end when the warning horns sounded and were surprised at the number of people that ran to jump the gap to get off before it fully opened. Scary! Personally, since we'd never done it before, we were happy to stay put. Luckily for us, it was only a partial opening for 2 small tugs to pass. We later witnessed it open fully to the other side to allow large barges to pass and it stayed open for a long time. There is a ferry nearby though that will take you to the other side when this happens.
