“Exceptional service, great location!”

I stayed for a week in late April 2012, my companion stayed for business and I tagged along for fun. We were originally supposed to stay at the Marriott where a medical conference was taking place, but our reservations were botched. It turns out it worked to our favor as the Renaissance was delightful. We upgraded from a standard room to the Imperial suite for an additional fee per night and I highly recommend it. We had a large separate room fit for entertaining a few friends, which was nice, but the biggest reason to upgrade was the spectacular marble bathroom with a large jacuzzi tub and a lovely rain shower with 6 heads...it was heavenly. The room also came with a large balcony the length of the two rooms. I would recommend a room on the 4th floor- possibly 415-440 because the view of the beach/pool is not obstructed by palm trees.

The first floor is very noisy because of the casino, so a 3rd or 4th floor room is a must. For the first time in my life I got sucked into gambling and spent more time at the blackjack tables than I care to admit. The casino is the best on the island and on the weekends they have a great salsa band. The hotel is located in an old fort; the perfect spot for nightlife, shopping and eating at some of the best restaurants. (Don't miss eating at the Governeur.) There is no beach to walk on because it is very rocky, but they have created a man-made beach with a beautiful infinity pool which was just as good in my opinion.

What made my stay so fantastic was the friendly service I received. I was on a first name basis with a lot of the staff and they went out of their way to ensure my happiness. At the front door you are likely to meet Marvin and Alexis wearing big smiles while they hand you a bottle of water. They were the two nicest people who seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs. I was always happy to see them after a day of diving or running around the island. The front desk staff, Julissa and Angelique were also a pleasure to see every day. They were very helpful!

The hotel is quite new with a modern/eclectic feel. I will definitely be back and hope to see my old friends again. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Room Tip: 3rd or 4th level- try to avoid 300-315, 400-415 if you don't want palm trees obstructing your vi...

Our experince at the hotel was ok until the last day when they offered a complimentary room to be used after the check out to take a shower and get ready before leaving to the airport...

They assigned a room that had not been cleaned. It still had the dirty towels from the previous guests, the trash can was full and what's to say about the shower...

Room Tip: Choose an ocean view

This new hotel has a marvellous location, next to the Rif-fort, a Dutch colonial fort that has been turned into a place with nice bars and restaurants, and where you can still experience the fort itself. Also very close to the beautiful town of Willemstad, UNESCo site. The staff is very friendly, and the hotel has great rooms, swimming pool at the sea with a bar.

Room Tip: Seaside room has great view

We had high expectations for this resort and it exceeded them! My only complaint is that we were not there long enough. This resort is exceptionally clean and the staff very friendly. The food was excellent and we wish we'd have takne more advantage of the meals at Infinity. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone and we can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: upgrade to the ocean view balcony...and call ahead, it's cheaper to do it in advance. We loved...

My wife and I recently spent 2 weeks at the Renaissance to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff during this time were amazing, from Indira, Tatiana and Mistica at breakfast and lunch to Silvio at dinner. We were always greeted like old friends rather than guests and made to feel really welcome. At the infinity pool, Miraiza, Bianca and Windel were always there with drinks and food.
The one problem we did have at the hotel was no hot water in our room, how-ever that was resolved ( not as quickly as it should have been).Overall this hotel is second to none, terrific staff, housekeepers, maintenance and managerial all contribute to make this hotel a jewel in Curacao

Room Tip: Go for the upper floors

The hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful to us throughout our stay. We requested a top floor ocean view room and that is just what we received. It was perfect! The room was clean, very quiet, and comfortable. The bed was a dream to sleep in. The ocean view room is a must, you will not regret it. Enjoyed our coffee on the balcony watching the ships come and go, very entertaining.

Upon arrival we thought the beach was a bit cheesy than once we went on to the beach and into the water we changed our opinion. Whoever designed this did an excellent job. You actually fell like you are right in the ocean when you look across the pool. We rented a car and drove to the local beaches (Cas Abao is the best with facilities and restaurant). The hotel beach was nice to come back to for one last ray and swim. Can’t explain how nice this is, you have to see it for yourself. No matter what time we arrived getting a lounge in either sun or shade was never a problem. This facility is not crowded.

The hotel’s location to town is what sold us on staying here and what will bring us back again. Everything is within walking distance. At night you will find very few tourists out, mainly locals who are very nice and did not bother us one time. Walked all over town day and night and felt safe.
Right next door you have Riff Fort with many shops, restaurants and bars. Highly suggest walking across the bridge to Punda to dine at the Waterfront restaurants (10 minute walk) overlooking the ocean. We enjoyed Del Toro (Italian). Some restaurants/bars are a little pricier but overall we found Curacao inexpensive to moderately expensive. Dinner and drinks for 2 around $75 US. Soprano’s serves a strong inexpensive drink. Happy hour is the big thing in Curacao, not much nightlife.

The floating bridge to Punda is the only one of its kind and is fun and really cool to ride – a must do. Flags indicate how long the bridge will be open: orange 5-15 minutes, blue 30 or longer (for ships). Ride it, you will enjoy it. The ferry runs when the flag is blue and is also great, so try that out too.

While Christoffel was nice to drive through we liked Sheta Boka much better for the views and moderate hiking. We recommend going to the fort Beekenburg next to the Spanish Waters area. The fort is abandoned and fun to explore on your own. Read up about it first, there is rich history here. The fort was built in the early 1700’s and the canons still remain on standby, ready to fire.

There is plenty to do and see in Curacao and the Marriott Renaissance is the perfect hotel and location to do it from. Rent a car and explore this beautiful island. Enjoy your stay!

Room Tip: Must get an ocean view on 4th floor (top floor). Best veiw. Lower room has palm trees that may block...

This is a wonderful and beautiful hotel if you're not looking for torquoise beaches. It's right in downtown and you can walk to the main attractions, and experience restaurants outside the hotel. You can do the whole tour in a day and we were looking for a real beach where you can snorkel, etc. The artificial beach is nice, but you feel very confined.

This is a fairly modern hotel and the rooms are pretty nice. The breakfast is excellent.

If you're choosing between this hotel and the other Marriott, I highly recommend the other one as there are more activities. I felt very confined at the Renaissance and after a day had to switch hotels. Luckly the front desk was very understanding.

Also, note that there is absolutely nothign to do on Sundays. Everything is closed.
