The food was great, the agnus beef melting on your tongue and even a simple salad was great. The "very good" review is solely based on the high quality of the food (which is parially grown on their own property). The scenery is rather poor. Not a nice environment, not a nice view the property looks a bit disordered. It start with the broken name plate outside and the impression continues in-side.
Cosy No, Nice environment No no really. Good food most definitely! Would I go there with friends .. probably not...

We first visited the restaurant at Landhuis Daniel in February 2014 when looking for a place to have breakfast when driving westward from Willemstadt. By chance, we stopped at Landhuis Daniel and we were so impressed with the breakfast, we returned for lunch the next day. After our initial visit, we then returned in April, 2014, not only to dine, but to stay at the Daniel's, but that's for another review.

On this most recent visit, we enjoyed four breakfasts and two dinners at the restaurant of Landhuis Daniel. All were excellent. They strive to serve as much organic and fresh food as possible, even growing an extensive collection of greens in just about every stage of development that one can imagine in their extensive greenhouses. The taste of just-picked greens can't be duplicated, or improved upon, and nearly ever meal is garnished with a tasty salad of micro-greens.

We particularly like their " big breakfast" with a choice of regular coffee or capuchino, juice (fresh squeezed whenever possible, eggs any way, bacon, fruit, and large bread-basket of toast and rolls served with butter and jam. Even the salt placed on the table is Himalayan Pink Salt, so much better than iodized salt. If we eat the big breakfast at 9:00 AM, we are full and satisfied all day until dinner time.

Our dinners included cheese fondue and home-made French onion soup, Italian antipasta and Angus beef carpaccio as starters, pork tenderloin, tuna, whole red snapper, and seafood bouillabaisse. Only one time did we have enough room for dessert, and we selected a plate to share of international cheeses.

Service was good. For breakfast, we enjoyed the same server each morning, but we had different wait staff at night. They never had to write an order down, but yet everything came to the table just as requested.

The setting couldn't be lovelier. Sitting on the patio of a historic landhuis (plantation house) with orchids and desert roses surrounding us, the birds singing and visiting our table, well, it just doesn't get much better than that. The Landhuis Daniel is only ten minutes west of Curacao's airport, and is very easy to find and enjoy.

I'm already planning a return visit.

We've been to Daniel many times for their great Dutch pancakes and said we've got to give them a try for dinner. Well last night we finally did and we're quite pleased with it. The restaurant was very busy, with what appeared to be local Dutch families and friends...always a good sign when locals are there. Even though the dining is on the porch of the landhuis the pleasant aroma of roasting meat and spices permeated the air, so just had to have something roasted. The rack of lamb chops and asparagus special and the pork loin were our selections; both excellent in seasonings and tender juiciness. The white asparagus was a delight...a traditional spring treat.
Service was two-hour leisurely, but that's exactly the way we like to savor a great dining experience. Another restaurant on our go-back-to list...so many great ones on the island we'll just have to start extending our visits!

Landhuis Daniel is a true oasis with beautiful plants and flowers. It is a surprising location right off the main road from Willemstad to Westpunt. Everything oozes love and care, the lunch menu is simple but delicious, characterized by the use of their own grown salad greens (also possible to buy at AH). It was a wonderful lunch break, quiet and lovely. By the way, the very nice wine was served in the best glasses!

Wherever you are staying on the island, a meal at Landhuis Daniel is well worth the drive to the middle of Curacao. Granted, if you have touristic, resort-like expectations, you might become a bit peevish in the authenticity of this setting. The location itself is beautiful with native flowers in soil and pots gracing the entrance. The service is low-key and at a gentle pace. Ah, but the food is worth the wait and is to be savored, enjoyed, and even cherished. We started with the walnut -honey kissed brie which was presented atop a variety of spring greens grown in a greenhouse within view of the dining porch. My husband chose the bouillabaise which had been highly recommended by the host where we were staying on the island. Just the aroma as our server placed the bowl on the table made me wonder if I should change my order. However, the tuna and polenta with more fresh greens did not disappoint. For dessert, the creme brullee was smooth and not too sweet. Glasses of Chardonnay were cold and delicious. We enjoyed our dinner on island time and will return. I would suggest a day for swimming at near-by secluded Playa San Juan, and then a late luncheon or early dinner at Landhuis Daniel Restaurant. The historical charm is of another era which should delight any diner of any age or nationality.
