“Changing...for the worse”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2011

We have been going to Sjallote for dinner as a highlight restaurant during our Curacao vacations for the last seven years, and twice this year. The garden ambience and serene zen-like nature makes for a nice fine dining experience. In April we were somewhat surprised with the much smaller menu selection, but still some good things so didn't think much of it. When went on September 6th it was quite a surprise. The only choice was a three course meal for I think $49 each, from which they had only three each: starters, main, and dessert to choose from. Even stranger was that one main was Fish and Chips...very odd for Curacao, but my wife gave it a try and it was OK. Furthermore their wine selections were sparse too...one Chardonnay, but it was a decent one. No wonder there were only three tables with customers! Anyway, the food and presentation was still excellent, and the service friendly and attentive. Certainly comes off our must-do list, but may give them one more chance in January, because the atmosphere in nice and the food that they have is excellent.

“Airport cafetaria ambiance and quality”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2011

This was by far the most disappointing experience I had at Curacao restaurants by long.

The portions are small, the prices high, the waiters seem un-instructed the cook is plain rude, the restaurant music is overcast by the TV noise from the bar above, there is no wine list and they dare to serve red snapper with the same garniture as lamb chops.
If you invite business associates to this place you might die of shame.

“Wonderful food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2011

I really enjoyed this restaurant. My wife and I visited on our trip twice. I had the steak and my wife the sea bass. The food is excellent. Some other reviewers mentioned that the price was high, but in my opinion the food was priced right. This was a high quality place so don't expect the food to be cheap. If you are staying at the Marriott, you should totally visit Sjalotte. It's just across the street and the food is great.

“Disappointing experience”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2011

Sjalotte is way over-rated. The only plus I can say about this place is the atmosphere. It is quite nice. Other than that, it's mediocre at the best. The service is pretentious, the food is just OK, and the prices are way too high for what you get. We ordered a goose liver appetizer, and would've needed magnifying glasses to find it on the plate - all that for $22. Ridiculous. The main dishes were OK, but not great, and definitely not worth the high price. If you want a great dinner, drive out to Wespunt, and visit Landhuis Misje. But make sure to make a reservation ahead of time.

“An unexpected treat! Wonderful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2011

We knew nothing about this restaurant other than it was walking distance of the Marriott. We thought we would try something new.

We arrived rather early - 6:30ish and there were a handful of diners.
I love the little courtyard and surrouding exotic plants that enclose this restaurant. A little waterfall is nearby to create a nice atmosphere.

The wine list was good.

The sole was cooked to perfection! It was one of the best I have had.
My son and husband ordered the salmon and both gave it high marks!

The vegetable were cooked perfectly!

This is not an inexpensive place to dine but well worth the money.
