“Punta Frances”
Review of Cactus Patriarch

Cactus Patriarch
Reviewed April 28, 2009

Found some more information on this cactus the reviewer saw, I believe it's called "Punta Frances" and the information on it is this on gocuba.ca website:

A 600-year-old-cactus as tall as a tree grows at the end of the Hicacos peninsula, near a natural salt pit where leathers and meats were prepared over the centuries.

We stumbled upon this attraction as we were walking down the beach on a red flag day. We knew that it existed but didn't realize that we had walked that far from Sandals and so were surprised to find it. There's really not much to it, it's a big cactus (really, really big). The sign is in Spanish so I don't know what it says, although I assume it's something about the history. It's a very neat looking cactus, and it is definetly the biggest one I've ever seen.

It's a nice little site to see on a nice walk down the beach, especially if water activities are off limits that day. The walk from Sandals to Sirenis was worth it just to see the difference between the rocky area and sandy area, the cactus was a nice perk to an already interesting walk.
