Hotel from the outside looks old, but was only built 9 years ago. We had requested connecting rooms as traveling with our children, they didn't have these on our arrival but did move us the following day. Rooms were clean with plenty of room. The lifts were a bit of a pain, they don't seem to have enough of them for the amount of people. We used the stairs a lot, but being on the 8th floor this was a bit tiresome. Staff were friendly enough, although at times we had to wait to be served. The pool area is fabulous as was the activities the hotel provide. A short walk on a lovely promenade & you're on the fabulous beach with white sand & crystal clear waters.

The grandeur of this hotel hits you before you arrive, it stands majestically above everything around.
The large lobby invites you in and wows you with the greenery that is draping from the open plan walkways and stairwells. The main foyer extends upwards in the middle of the hotel to the point that all floors can see down to the lobby bay. Together with glass lifts and abstract art it all adds to a striking first impression.
The standard triple room we had was very spacious with two double and a single bed in. Our room was to the rear of the hotel looking out to the pool and the sea, rooms at the front looked out towards the lagoon some 400m away. The all inclusive mini bar we had was restocked daily with local soft drinks and beer. Everyday when housekeeping attended we would return to find our towels had been arranged into attractive shapes.
The pool area was very large with loungers arranged all around the pool and the surrounding grounds providing all kinds of relaxation, whether it be sat in full sun by the pools or laid in a hammock in the shade.Throughout the day the pool bar was open for a full bar service offering all drinks with a seperate snack bar nearby.
There is a wooden walkway through the back of the hotel grounds leading to the beach bar and the beach. The beach is just amazing beautiful blue sea and dusty white sand that is just endless. The beach bar is open throughout the day and all night offering drinks and snacks.
There are 2 buffet restaurants and 2 a-la carte restaurants (evening meals only). One of the buffet restaurants is in the main hotel and is where breakfast and evening meals are served the other is in another building near the poolbar and lunch is served here On an evening this resaurant becomes one of the a-la carte.
We ate at all of the restaurants during our 2 week stay and found the food to be a very high quality with a lot of variation at all of them. The buffets were constantly monitored by staff (including the hotel manager) and food was always hot, fresh and tasty.
As Cuba is the home to Havana Club Rum (and Bacardi) it would be rude not to sample the wonderful cocktails available in all the bars. We liked the Lobby bar and the piano bar on an evening. Every night there would be a small group of musicians entertaining in both bars at some point.
The hotel every night offered professional entertainment on a larger scale either with its own resident dancers or outside performers, singers, illusionists and that sort of thing. All to a high standard this was performed in a large staged area just off the main hub of the building near the lobby bay.
Every member of staff worked hard to keep the hotel clean, bars well stocked and to make sure you enjoyed your stay. Jose the manager kept a very good hotel and we would love to return.
We would definitely recommend the Blau Varadero.

Room Tip: The higher floors will have a better view and will also be quieter on a night

After touring Cuba for 10 days we were looking for sun, sand and rest, also a variety of food
Well this hotel more than fitted the bill
Our room was on the 5th floor, but with the mezzanine arrangement this was only like two floor up
Rooms were pool and sea facing which was great, they were clean, comfortable, had hair dryer, mini bar, safe and constant hot water. The bed was big enough for 4 people to share, so plenty of room
The buffet at breakfast and dinner was overwhelming and quite wonderful, I don't think you could want for anything , service was quick, by well trained staff.
We saw the manager on several occasions but watching that everyone was fulfilling their tasks effeciently, the hotel ran with precision.
Lunch buffet in the grill was equally as good and musicians could always be heard strumming their stuff, great atmosphere
The two a la carte restaurants were waiter service and the food here was wonderful
Animation team worked really hard during the day with different activities and each night there was a show , magic, burlesque, cuban and the brilliant water ballet.
No shortage of sun loungers even though the hotel was full.
Just a walk along the decking , through the trees and you were on the beach. Several days we saw the flock of pelicans on the beach, sometimes being fed by the locals
We spoke to many people who have been to this hotel for several years running and I can see why.
Every area of the hotel was kept clean constantly
Only negative comment, the gym seemed not to be air conditioned, or if it was, it didn't work properly. Used the gym only once due to the oppressive conditions, just did more swimming instead
My friends birthday on the day we arrived and there was a cake in his room ready for us
Highly recommended

Room Tip: Pool and sea facing rooms are a must

Blau Hotel was recommended to us by family member who took vacation earlier. It was right a choice, we spoke to other vacationers and they were happy also. Service was excellent, most of the staff were courteous. Make sure to tip servers in restaurants and at bar, they don`t make much money and service you receive is much better than we receive in Canada. Don`t miss shows, live music at bar and live Piano in evening.

Only one thing we were disappointed was bed and pillows, people in our group were not happy either. Once we spoke to hotel manager, they were changed but still not what we were expecting otherwise rooms are big and clean. Strongly recommend to take ocean view.

Room Tip: Take a ocean view and higher floors because of loud music in evening.

On first approaching the hotel I thought oh an old dated building but once inside it was impressive for a 4 star. The lobby staff were helpful giving us our AI bracelets whilst our room was being finished. The hotel facilities were good and generally all bars and restaurants offered great food and drink. The pools are kept really clean and there are plenty of sun loungers and chairs to prevent a mad early morning rush. The beach and pool bars served beers and cocktails with table service too. The beach is beautiful with white sand, and turquoise waters that felt warm once immersed.
There was live music and shows every evening, we played Bingo, used the health spa, played giant draughts, did Spanish lessons, watched people learn to dance by the pool.
This is a lovely hotel, with great staff and facilities.

Room Tip: A pleasant surprise if you are on the beach around 2pm is a family of Pelicans. A couple of fisherm...
