We felt the gentleman misrepresented the site. We went to this reserve thinking we could swim and snorkle. When we got there, the gentleman was very friendly and told us that we could do those things and enjoy the caves, as well as a blooming chocolate smelling orchid. The orchid was beautiful and very fragrant, but not worth the 5 cuc each that we paid. There was no water in the cave to swim in and the snorkling would have had to been done in a swamp at the end of the trail. When we returned from the path and commented on that, the gentleman was not quite so friendly. the path was pretty, but we wouldn't have paid 5 CUC each had we known what to expect. Go to Saturno Caves - way better value all around

This reserve is a hidden gem wedged between the highway and hotels out on the peninsula. You will need to take the 5 CUC on/off bus to get there. Ask and you will be let off at the entrance. A well planned and well marked trail guides you through what seems to be an untouched part of Cuba and highlights the flora, fauna and geology of the region.

Beware of washed out holes in the rocky trail and remember to take lots of pictures as your only souveniers. For some reason though, the trail exists back out to the middle of the highway. We walked back along the highway to the entrance where we retured the map they gave us to guide us.

Well worth the 5 CUC admission.

It is a reserve close to the Sandals in Varadero. Takes about an hour to walk and the caves and limestone formations are interesting. Probably wouldn't recommend to see, unless you have some time to spare and want to go off the resort

Easy enough for our 2 seniors and 4 young kids to go thru. Highlight was the caves, you can to crawl to get into it, but once itside it was a small maze with the occasional bat flying thru. Lots of fun. Termite mounds, rocky limestone pothole flooring. Very clean washroom too. Good fun hike for the family.

We got the open top tourist bus and got off here. For 5 CUC each we got a little paper guide in v funny pigeon english and followed the way markers through an hour or so of dry jungle, giant termite mounds, a mangrove swamp, and lots of limestone caves inc 2000 year old human remains. Worth every pesos and a pleasant change from everything else Varadero has to offer.
