I have never been all inclusive before and was not looking forward to but what a great week i had in the Royal service , Helen and Yoney made my week teaching me Spanish , Salsa and how to make Mojito's.
The Royal service restaurent Miramar was superb and the Japanese restaurent one of the hightlights of the week .
I met some great people from all over the world but now on getting home my fondest memories are of the ladies at the pool bar who laughed at my dancing in a good way and really got behind me to learn , but my beautiful friend Helen who was brillant and taught we how to order drinks and a meal in Spanish , she was so special to me and I will keep in touch , To Yosney who tackled my two left feet and I now can Salsa !!!
Helen , Yosney and the pool bar staff you made David and my holiday brillant
With love to you all

June 15 to June 22: it has been a very pleasant week. One week is perfect and enough. The resort is very well manicured. The employees are couteous. The food is very good. We felt welcomed. The beach is outstanding. The director "Jesus" looks at the well being of the guests and we were delighted by our stay. We definitely recommend this resort and we will for sure go back. The only thing that was missing was a buffet. They are renovating the building and therefore, they do not offer a buffet style restaurant at the moment. Bubba.

Room Tip: Royal service allows you to use the hill top restaurant which is extremely romantic and I must say...

I make no apologies for the length of this review, as I felt that I had to mention every aspect of the Paradisus Princessa Del Mar Resort and Spa so that potential visitors know what to expect.

Our first visit to the carribean, we visited between 6 and 12 June, and we could not have found a better hotel in which to stay. Our holiday was a 2 centre stay, firstly in Havana at the Melia Habana on a B&B basis for 3 nights and then, after the hectic stay in the city of Havana a relaxing 7 nights AI at the Paradisus Princessa Del Mar resort and spa. We travelled with The Holiday Place (a first), and our first award goes to Jordi our rep. Jordi always has a smiling face, is very knowledgeable about the area and genuinely wants you to enjoy your stay. It was our Wedding Anniversary and my birthday during our stay and we were overwhelmed with gifts and wishes of good will, a birthday cake made by the chef of the Hilltop Hideaway (including having 'Feliz cumpleanos' sang to me 4 times throughout the day). Jordi provided us with gifts including a miniature bottle of rum and a couple of Cuban ceramic pots, she organised the birthday cake and a bottle of champagne on arrival.... our best ever rep.

Upon our arrival at the Paradisus we were welcomed with a cold towel to refresh ourselves after the long journey from Havana, a glass of champagne each and a rose for the ladies.

The whole layout of the hotel is beautiful with the main restaurants around a square where the evening entertainment takes place. For a reasonable tip, the bellboy takes you to your suite (we had a Junior Suite - large enough for us, with ample bathroom, a large bed and sitting area and table with a large balcony overlooking the ocean) in a golf cart, so there is no need to carry your bags to your room. given the heat this is very advisable (if not mandatory!).

We were concerned to receive a letter from the Holiday Place a couple of weeks prior to arrival advising us that the buffet restaurant was closed for refurbishment ubtil November. We needn't had worried, as this meant that we could not only eat all week in the various A La Carte restaurants but also at the A La Carte Hilltop hideaway restaurant normally reserved for Royal Service guests. If you book to travel before 15 November, I would suggest that you will experience the same option as ourselves. We like to eat at restaurants offering fine dining and ggod service, there is absolutely no problems at this hotel with the service in all restaurants and the food we found to be of a high quality (I cannot understand anyone complaining about the quality of the food) The restaurants vary from Japanese (show cooking from the chef), French, Italian, Oriental and then the Hilltop hideaway, which is again veering towards french dining. The house wine in all restaurants is Spanish and of a good quality, but if you choose, you can pay for any other wine off the list starting at approximately £20 per bottle. Upon arrival on the first day we decided to book all restaurants for the week, the only reservation we found regarding the hotel, which was far from full, was that we did not have an open choice of where and when to dine each night, as each restaurant seemd to close for a couple of days during the week, but this was not a problem to ruin the holiday. Apart from the Japanese restaurant most menus were 4 courses and fixed throughout our stay. Whilst dining in the Hilltop Hideaway and French restaurants we were entertained with live music.

Breakfast can be taken in three locations. We favoured the location behind the Piano Bar, service was good and there was anything available from continental to freshly made omelettes to order to cooked breakfasts (Cuban style), inclusive of cereals and toast.

The hotel is located twards the end of the strip of sand that is Varadero beach, it being the penultimate hotel, and our opinion is that the hotels at that end of the strip appear to be the most recently built and modern (we may be wrong). If you wish to visit downtown Varadero there is a sightseeing bus (5 Pesos) which you can hop off and on wherever you choose, just keep your ticket for the return leg.

The hotels grounds are, as I said earlier beautifully laid out, the pools are shallow and there are ample sunbeds and cabanas on which to relax. As the hotel is AI, drinks are provided from the swim up bar and measures are ample in the variety of alcoholic drinks on offer.

We had a free 20min back, neck and shoulder massage included in our package, which we took advantage of on my birthday. The staff at the spa were friendly and professional and it was a very relaxing visit. The Spa also has a steam room and sauna if you are not hot enough outside !!

Lunch can be taken at a variety of locations on site, we ate at the Royal Club (?) bar whilst relaxing on the beach, live music accompanied our lunch every day, we also took lunch at the Rocks restaurant and Japanese restaurant.

After our evening meal, we generally sipped cocktails in the Piano bar, Jenny, the pianist is an accomplished musician, we enjoyed her music immensely. Another award goes to Yaima the cocktail waitress / bartender, who always had a smile for us and served up cocktails efficiently. If you do not like piano music there is a choice of the cigar bar for a drink.

The evening entertainment at the hotel was of a high quality, acts tended to travel round the many hotels in Varadero. We witnessed a magic act, rock band (specialising in Janis Joplin classics with a female lead singer), a musicals evening and the best was the aqua ballet (difficult in a pool only 4ft deep!).

During our week we booked one trip out of the hotel which cost approx. £75 per person. This included a catamaran boat trip to an island, Cayo Blanco, snorkelling off the island and lunch on the island consisting of Chicken, Shrimp and lobster with vegetables, and a swim with dolphins before the return to the hotel. During the whole day drinks were free and included in the price.

We loved our stay at this hotel, all the staff were friendly and we always got an 'Ola' from everyone be they bar staff, restaurant staff, gardeners or maids. We would not hesitate in recommending this hotel and would re-visit given the chance.

Just returned from an 11 night stay here, following 3 nights in Havana.
On arrival we were surprised at how few people were staying there (although not prime time to visit Cuba) still expected more people. The atmosphere around the pool area a bit too quiet initially - classical music being played on music system, wondered how we would survive 11 days of this - however after a couple of days things changed, certainly for the better.
The arrival of a few more guests (still only 1/4 occupancy for the hotel) brought with it the added bonus of the 'animation team' - not butlins style by any means, very enthusiastic, friendly but not over-powering team.
The music around the pools changed to a more suitable selection of 'salsa, cuban-type music' again not too much, but enough to create the right atmosphere.
Beautifully well kept gardens surrounded this hotel. Great efforts are made to keep everywhere clean and tidy and all the staff were very friendly. Lovely clean pool areas with adequate sunbeds and cabanas that you could have your choice of where you wanted to sit almost any time of the day (no need to reserve with towels :)
My only complaint about the pool area, was there was no 'waiter service' - unusual for a 5 star hotel, and all the drinks were served in plastic cups - in my opinion if they had to be plastic they needed to be a bit bigger - once the ice was in the glass, not too much room for your drink, therefore you had to have it re-filled (yourself) too regularly!!
Lovely, clean, modern room, couldn't fault the towel-changing and cleaning services. The maids went to great lengths to decorate the rooms with little flowers sprinkled on the beds most days.

Beautiful beach, clear crystal water, white sand stretching for miles. Animation team arranged volleyball water aerobics and tai che here every morning. Spent a lot of time on the beach - stunning.

We ate in all of the restaurants:
Breakfast:
The Port Royal Restaurant (on the way down to the beach) - lovely outside seating as well as sheltered seating. Excellent service here, very friendly staff who tried very hard to please, very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.

Evening Restaurants
Italian, French, Asian all excellent, very friendly staff, again went out of their way to make sure that you enjoyed your meal.
Japanese Tepanyaki - brilliant night here - entertained by the chefs cooking the food in front of you - really made the evening an experience. Very friendly, and food excellent, really couldn't fault it.
Hill top Restaurant - beautiful dining experience - live music played in welcoming surroundings - made your meal a very special occassion. Beautiful views over complex.
Gabbis Restaurant - unfortunately had a bad experience here - once spoken with the manager he arranged a 'special meal' for us in the Hill Top restaurant the following evening. I can only describe this as the best customer service that I have ever had.
The managers (Jesus & Leonardo) went out of their way to get us the bet table in the restaurant and a special menu to what everyone was being served - smoked salmon, fresh lobster and mouthwatering dessert. All washed down with champagne.
They even visited us during the meal and afterwards to make sure that everything was ok. That has to be acknowledged as Managers who really do care about customer satisfaction and they should be recognised for this. We really did appreciate their generosity and care.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings.

Room Tip: We stayed in Block 5 - 2nd floor room. lovely views, across the gardens, very convenient for everyt...

Hi, my name is Inti Nápoles and I stayed at the hotel Paradisus Princesa del Mar with my wife during our Honeymoon. As a TourGuide I stay in many hotels in Cuba during tours. My standars are very high for comparing hotels at this time.
I don't find the right words to describe how wonderful was our stay in this marvellous hotel.
Wow! This is what everybody would like to experience after being married! Guys, all we can say is that what we saw and enjoyed is the Paradise on Earth!
All the staff at the hotel was very helpful. The different restaurants is just a show of what cubans can do for making you feel like at home. There is no need of going out of the hotel for looking for something else. Everything can be found in there. Entertainment is also very good, specially at night where there is a wide range of choices for all likes. The veeery clean swimming pools, the chambermaid services, the bartenders, the outstanding performance at Customer's service office, the just-openned royal service area, etc.
If you want to have a memorable holiday, don't hesitate on booking in Paradisus Princesa del Mar: The best hotel at Varadero Beach!

Room Tip: Royal Service is what you wanna try!
