This was my 4th visit to this hotel........so, I knew what to expect, and, I was not disappointed. The food, staff, beach, pool....they were all excellent. I look forward to another vacation at the Las Morlas later this year.

Stayed at this hotel Feb. 27- March 5, 2011. This was our 4th time in Varadero. First time at this hotel. It is a very family oriented hotel.
Hotel:
The Las Morlas is a smaller hotel which worked very well for us as there was not as much walking between the restaurants, beach, pool, etc. Rooms are also smaller than some of the other hotels but very adequate and very clean. There are no facecloths is the bathroom so bring your own. The fridge is stocked only once upon arrival with a large bottle of water (1.5 l). If you want more water you have to buy it. (1 peso).
Food:
The food was excellent with many choices at the buffet. They always had pasta with 2 different kinds of sauces and grilled beef, pork, fish, stir fry or turkeys & hams that they would carve for you depending on the day.
Breakfast had an omelet station as well as pancakes, french toast, fruits, yogurts, fresh bread and too many other things to mention.
There is something for everyone.
Pool:
The pool looked very nice & very clean. We never used it as we spent our time on the beach.
Beach Grill:
Hamburgers, hotdogs, fries every day.
Staff:
The staff went out of their way to be helpful. Best staff I have ever run into.
Beach:
Plenty of umbrellas & chairs. They never ran out even though the hotel was full.We never had to "reserve" a chair & umbrella.
Beautiful beach

Lots of families there.

We would go back.

It was the 3-rd time we came to Las Morlas and we had a great pleasure to see all our Cuban friends. The weather was very good (no rain for 8 days, very sunny) and we will definitely come back here. The room was very clean, the food was good and all personel (hotel and restaurant) were very friendly and nice.

We stayed at Las Morlas from Feb 7 to 14.

Reception: great (quick and friendly) We were greeted very warmly by the porter.

Room: 256 view of street and ocean. Initial impression was to request to move to a room with pool and hopefully ocean view. However, we met a couple at the lobby bar our first night who were in 252 and said the view was great as compared to other rooms and it was the quiet side of the resort. We decided to stay put and were glad we did. The rooms are very clean, beds need new bedspreads, fridge with bottle of water (refill at any bar for free), bathroom adequate size with great shower and lots of hot water and pressure.

Buffet: great. Wonderful outdoor eating area.

Ala carte: very good as well, however the menu never changed. It would be much better if it changed on a daily basis.

Beach BBQ: great hamburgers!

Pool: refreshing, beautiful, lots of available recliners at all times. Fun aquabics in the morning.

Bars: lobby and pool bar were excellent. Didn't hang out at the beach bar so no comment. Excellent espresso and capucchinos and coffee with milk. Great mohitos and pinacoladas.

Beach: wonderful. Can walk to Bella Costa (half hour) to the right. Can walk forever to the left (downtown Veradero). Lots of loungers. Great catamaran rides included and for $15 pp will take you to snorkel (about 2 1/2 hours return).

Massage: one hour full body is great ($25) and half hour back ($10)

Entertainment: mostly done in Italian. Fun to watch. Great syncro water ballet if you get a chance to see it!

Location: excellent - 20 minute walk into town.

Banking: $100 Cnd gets you $89 CUC. Be sure to check your money before you leave the bank.

Rum: starting at $5 or so. May be $1 more or less at the airport depending on the rum.

Outing: We rented bikes from the Solymar resort ($2 per hour per bike) and biked to the Ambrosia caves ($5 tour pp). Was interesting. About 3 hours with tour and stop twice at a water sport centre for a beer! ($1 each)

Of note, there are lots of guests who smoke.

This was our first visit to this resort, but our friends have been there several times. The staff was very friendly, the service was great. The food was great, lots of choices. The drinks were great could actually taste the liquor in them...no shot glasses to be seen. The beach is to die for can walk for miles. Lots of lounge chairs on the beach and at the pool.
The only thing missing here is face cloths in the room.
The other draw back is the money exchange, there is a surcharge. In stead of the 8% it was 16% which fluxuated on a daily basis. It is cheaper at the bank but takes about an hour to get through the process.
I would return to this resort in a heart beat.

I always plan my hotel stays around the reviews I read on tripadvisor and once again wasn't disappointed. As described in previous reviews this hotel is a small gem. The rooms were very clean (not a cockroach in sight). The staff were pleasant. The food was excellent.

Initially, we couldn't help compare the buffet to those offered at all inclusives in Mexico but again you have to recognize that this is Cuba. The buffet always included fresh fruit as well as fresh grilled meat, including chicken and fish. Three times a week they offer a theme night - Cuban, Italian, and Fish. If an individual can't find something to eat at this resort then they are very picky. They also have an outside grill closer to the beach that offers hotdogs/hamburgers and french fries. The al la carte restaurant was excellent. The bartenders definitely do not skimp on the drinks.

This resort is small and in a great location as it takes approximately 15 mins. to walk into Varadero.

This resort does tend to cater to the Italian population as we were told approximately 75% of the guests are from Italy. They have hired Italian entertainment staff for this reason. We didn't mind not being the focus of attention as we wanted rest and relaxation. The evening shows again focused on the involvement of the Italians but we still enjoyed watching.

We stayed at Las Morlas from Dec 26-Jan 3. It is a smaller family resort. We had been promised adjoining rooms but instead got rooms across the hall from each other. Nothing could be done. After that initial frustration we had a very enjoyable stay. One room faced the pool-disco which was very loud at night until about 1 am. The other room had an ocean-street view which was very calm-great to sit on the balcony and listen to the ocean..
You got a free litre of water in the fridge the first day-after that you had to pay a peso at the bar for more.
We walked by the Barceló resort on our walks and we were so glad we didn't stay there. It looked like a spring break party-the beach was always littered and wild with partiers. Even our teenagers were happy we were at Las Morlas.
The rooms were simple and clean. While the bedspreads could do with replacing, the rooms were kept very clean. The towels were thick. Extra-large bath sheets were available for the beach/ pool. Odalys, our house keeping lady, created towel sculptures every day including swans with fresh flowers on New Year’s Day.
The New Year's Eve celebration was so much fun, complete with noise makers, hats, and masks and champagne. We celebrated twice-Italian New Year as there are many Italians at this resort and Cuban. The New Year's Eve dinner was fabulous. Beautifully presented, huge variety and great service.
I would agree with other comments that the a la carte restaurant is not worth going to. While it is a lovely atmosphere with great individual service, none of us enjoyed our meal there. Stay at the buffet- it changes daily. Cuban ,Italian, fish...We never noticed the shortages other people have spoken of in other resorts.
The buffet had a really good variety of food. Our family has many allergies to contend with. We were worried about it beforearriving, but the variety and presentation made it easy for us to avoid what we needed to. The daily omelette bar and pasta bar were great. We too enjoyed the lunches at the beach bar.
The beach was beautiful-the shades of blue clear water, the clean soft sand...It was kept really clean with enough lounge chairs for everyone. We had long walks every day. There were paddle boats, catamarans included. The Eden Village people included everyone in their activities and even though we don't speak Italian we had a lot of fun trying the variety of activities. We avoided the pool (except for the bar :)) as it was really cold. I did love the Christmas tree by the pool..
We went on two excursions-one to Havana for the day and one snorkelling day. We booked them in the lobby with our Hola tour guide. Both days were fantastic. Our teenagers were really pleased to try new things or just hang out. Don't miss Havana-there is so much to see. Our meal there was our worst of the week though' at El Gato. I think also next time I would bring my own snorkel gear.

Next to the resort there is a little bank. Be sure to walk over there to change your money as the hotel charges a lot. Better yet change your money at the airport before you get on the bus to the resort!!

Lots of fun-would love to go back-thank you to the staff especially the bar and buffet staffs :)
