“Great Honeymoon / Family trip - Would go again!”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

We went there 18 of us, friends and family, March 21st-29th, 2013 and it was so much fun.

Check in was a breeze, first room we stayed in Nolitours building, wasn't that great, was moldy kinda smell, toilet and tub wasn't working great. So the next day we switched to another room in another location on the resort and that room was better. Balcony, everything was working it was great!

Lots of food, drinks and entertainment! I am a very fussy eater and I didn't starve! There's lots of food for everyone.

We did 2 excursions, Varadero bus tour and swimming with dolphins, both amazing!

I would definitely go again, it is Cuba, so a little old and some places are run down a bit, but if you look beyond that, it's a very beautiful resort, staff very friendly, beach very nice and clean, pool area very nice (that's where pretty much all the entertainment is)

Overall, we were very satisfied for our first trip.

We had issues with our flights being delayed, but that's not the resorts fault! It happens!

First of all, this was our third time there, so that says something. But this time, it was extra special. The resort in on the quaint side, by today's standards. Definitely not the 'disney' effect many seem to have. No gimmicks, just real Cuban hospitality. Overall the resort is small, but the garden suites are quite nice, airly, light from both sides. Our maid, Maritza was excellent - every day little extras and very very detailed and thorough. The pool bar staff Cedy, Alex, Omar - always friendly, always helpful, always wanting to know how we are doing. Angela at La Duna bar, a huge open palapa with a hot tub loved Carol's hair and was always willing to talk, and always happy. The beach grille man Carlos is a force of nature - I don't know how you stand over a hot barbecue for 6 hours when it's 32 degrees, but he does it, and he loves it. Tonia at the coffee bar maked the most wicked Cafe Espanol - there are 30 on the menu and once you know her, there are a few others that aren't. Not to mention a little champagne here and there. In the lobby we had Mirka, who took care of our every need. The first night she could not give us our proper room b/c of an overbooking issue but I think she was personally upset. We knew her from the past trips. But she sorted it all out and we had a wonderful suite near the pool (and pool bar). And in the buffet, Lazaro, Abel and Raul took turns making sure we had what we wanted and as often as possible the table we really liked in the belvedere, open windows overlooking the beach. It is not the fanciest place - but they know how to do it right, so if you want to treat yourself and relax I highly recommend it. Oh, and the beach........google earth it. You'll see.

Room Tip: We prefer 2nd floor garden suites.

This is my 3rd time to Cuba, 1st time to this resort. we travelled during March 28 to April 5th. we had a wonderful time here. we travelled with Nolitours which we had no problem with at all.. Although the rep Charles was very unseen... He point blank made it clear that at night if u see him don't bother him, he is off the clock.. He was available when it was time to book tours and that was pretty much it... He was very unhelpful.. If we ever needed anything we just went to the front desk and they help us....We stayed in nolitours building which there was a lot of complaints about on other reviews... We stayed on the 2nd floor the first 2 doors right beside the sitting area and staircases and we had no problem going to bed... The music wasn't that loud at all.. I mean u could hear the base but that's all...no complaint there...

Tours: The only one we did was the 9.00$ tour that was half a day. It was a good time, it consist of going to Al Capones house, a castle that u can see from the resort beach, the market to do some shopping and a rum and cigar store.. U can taste test before u buy.. chocolate, banana and all kind of others... We left around 10am and was back at the resort around 2 pm. You can also take the double decker bus. It's 5 dollars, takes you to town to the markets and such. You can get on and off as you please..

Resort: The resort was awesome u could never get lost. There is a coffee bar that was awesome.. it's one of the main attractions I found. Tanya the server was the best... Jamaican and mint coffee was the bomb my favorites,. They did kareokee at the piano bar.. It was a lot of fun too especially after a few drinks. The shows was good my favorite was the water show in the pool and I went to the disco once its small but a good time..

The beach - was fantastic very big and lots of chairs all over. You can always find a place to sit.. You can also walk forever. There is only one pool.. We usually go to beach but venture up the last day to the pool.. They did zumba in the water and other activities too.

Food: the food was good.. My favorite was fahitas , they had endless amounts of pork, chicken, potatoes, and pasta, rice and French fries.. And all kinds of salads.. The breakfast was very good too.. the egg guys is very busy and always happy...The al a carts where real good too.. We went to the Cuban and the Italian and if I could eat at them so can anyone else.. I'm really picky.

Overall the resort was great, the breach was great the food was great and the staff was awesome...If you pick this resort for a trip, I guarantee you will have a blast...

We were 2 couples that just got back from a great week at Breezes. ( our 2nd time there ). Many thanks to Abel in the buffet for outstanding service as well as Carlos at the beach grill. Property in full bloom and was gorgeous. We stay in room 712 in the big building and reported 4 times: noisy air conditioner, no tv remote, water leak in bathroom and fridge did not work. No one ever came to check these issues. We were very disappointed in this lack of customer service. If you are looking for a quiet, more intimate resort... This is it! Beach is the most beautiful and of course that's what it's all about in Cuba! Would return but no stay in big building again.

My husband and I travelled to Cuba March 28 for one week. This is our second time to Varadero but our first time to this resort. What a resort!! We were treated very well by everyone and felt very welcome wherever we went. Firstly, the food was excellent. There was an abundance of fish, chicken, pork, pasta, whatever you wanted. Lots of different salads, smoothies.....breakfast wasn't breakfast without Huberto and his commentary "happy wife, happy life!" while making our tortillas (omelettes) in the morning. His humour just got your morning off to a great start. The minute we sat at our table, coffee was served. Lazarita one of the many excellent servers was totally hilarious and we became I hope "friends" during our stay. She shared her life with us as did Leisy who is a true lover of animals, rescuing them and giving them homes. The drinks were yummy and we enjoyed drinking them.....thank you Jaime, Elena, and Alex. Gladys your Pina Coladas are the best!!! The grill at the beach bar was awesome. Everywhere you went people waved, (not staged) with big smiles. We never felt like we had to tip to get good service. We did tip however and gave many gifts not because we felt we had to but because we wanted to and believe me everyone appreciated it. Crescencio the security guard was super friendly and now calls us his "white family." Safety first, this resort is guarded 24 hours a day. These guys are walking the beach and the grounds constantly making sure we are safe. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the ocean and was just beautiful, we didn't hear the disco but could understand why some people would be upset because it would just be rockin at night. Our room was huge and consisted of two rooms, the sleep area and a little lounge, with a couch, lovely table and chairs and two flat screen wall mounted tvs. Niurka was our housekeeper and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. We always had fresh towels, water and beautiful towel art displayed on our bed. The room was spotless but in all fairness there was a musty smell to it at first but certainly didn't put a damper on things. Niurka we can't thank you enough for your hard work and for your gifts to us as well. Anyone who wants to travel to Cuba should consider this resort. We were amazed at how many repeat travellers came through the doors and were greeted with big hugs and kisses.....lovely!! Everyone works very hard at this resort to make this paradise, Heaven on Earth! The grounds are lovely and the flowers are in bloom everywhere, thanks to the ever hardworking gardeners. This resort even has it's own vegetable garden, how cool is it when you see the chef going into the garden to get fresh herbs? The entertainment was awesome. Every night there was something different and what I liked was that there was a lot of Cuban music which is what you want to hear when you go to Cuba not what we are familiar with at home. The entertainment always involved the audience and kept us laughing way into the evening. We met a lot of great people from all over Canada and believe me the fifty and up club sure know how to party!!!! You know who you are "social worker." All in all if you are nice to people believe me it comes back to you ten fold. Go and experience the raw beauty of Cuba, AL Capones house, Xanadu, Varadero markets....all of it and bring home great memories. Leave your negativity at home because Cuba is a wonderful place to visit. Hola!!!! We are coming back!!!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the ocean are much quieter and the corner suites are large with a huge balcony. T...

My wife and I and another couple in our 30's returned from Breezes last week. This is our 3rd trip to Cuba and first to Varadero.

Beach - This is the nicest beach I've seen. Fine white sand, clear water, lots of room, shade, and easy to get a lounger. Most of the loungers are hammocked, but we didn't find them terribly uncomfortable and were still able to relax or snooze in them.

Food - The food was fine. We always ate a fresh egg omelette in the morning. We grabbed a burger at the grill for lunch or ate light in the buffet. The a la carte meals were good, with the Italian being the best of the three. The buffet in the evening was good too. I admit there are some things I wouldn't give the time of day, but there was enough variety that I was satisfied after each meal.

Service - we had great service at this resort. The staff are very friendly and approachable. I had read a few negative reviews regarding the staff and tons of positive reviews as well. My interpretation after experiencing a week at the resort is this. If you treat the staff the way you would want people to treat you at your place of employment than you will have a very positive experience. However, if you are impatient, rude or feel that you should be treated in a higher regard than everyone else on the resort including the staff than you may be disappointed.
With regards to tipping... Tip when you feel you have good service just as you would at home. You will find quickly that a tip is much more appreciated in Cuba that it is here..

Rooms - for us a room is a place to rest your head. The junior suite wasn't terrible. If you are going to bed a 10 o'clock and want absolute quiet than the junior suite may not be for you as you can hear the disco. It wasn't a problem for us. The room was cleaned daily and our cleaning lady introduced herself and told us to ask her if we needed anything.

Overall- great resort with a lot of retuning guests. We met a lot of great people, including staff. Our room was clean, food was best I've had in Cuba and the beach was amazing. Remember you are going to Cuba. If you want 5 star infrastructure and food pay the extra couple hundred bucks and go elsewhere. If you want to spend a week or two with genuine friendly people and safely experience a unique culture than Cuba and Breezes is the place for you.

We plan on returning to this resort.

Room Tip: garden suites would be the way to go
