Keeping in mind this is a smaller 4* resort, this is a good place to stay, I would stay here again. Other revewers who are complaining about minor things need to keep things in perspective, you are travelling to a country where they don't have all of the same resources you might be accustomed to. I'm trying to write an honest review of my experience with the resort.
Rooms were kept clean and fairly spacious. A few minor things could use some upgrading, but everything worked. Beds were reasonably comfortable. If you're expecting egyptian cotton sheets, and goose down-filled pillows...you're probably not being realistic to put things into perspective! If you can deal with a few little things that aren't perfect (like the curtain rod needing to be jerry rigged to hold up the drapes, or the bathroom door latch not quite working perfectly, or the showerhead being a bit loose, you'll be fine). I was staying in the main hotel, with a balcony view of the front, I would probably prefer to try a bungalow next time. The elevator in the hotel is a bit sketchy and could use some maintenance, but it works.
Staff were freindly and courteous, I had no reason to complain while I was at Iberostar. We made friends with one of the Iberostar Friends and they helped us arrange a driver to Havana which was great. If you talk to staff and give them some tips, they give you pretty prompt service and will remember you.
Location was really good, the beach was incredible, no complaints there. Beach bar was easily accessible and they have staff do activities on the beach as well. The pool was where I spent most of my time, and that was fine, if you tip they'll bring you drinks when you're sitting near the bar.
The food was reasonable, if a bit plain. Typically you had a lot of eggs, rice, beans, etc. I had no issues with the food in particular. It just wasn't anything spectacular, but the buffet usually had a few things that I liked. The two on-resort restaurants were ok, the Cuban restaurant food wasn't much better than what you might get at the general buffet. I found the Japanese restaurant was more like stir-fry, but the Chefs put on an entertaining show and I'm glad we went.
On a side note, the resort also has some friendly critters who may come to visit you! They have domesticated cats who have been spayed/neutered who live on the resort. They're friendly and will come visit you by the pool or at the outdoor restaurants. I thought that was pretty cool.
Anyway, for anyone who is not expecting perfection, and is willing to overlook a few minor things, this resort is good value with friendly staff and I would stay there again.
