This was our 7th stay at Melia las Americas and it keeps getting better and better! We cannot thank the staff enough for making feel at home. Our room was stunning overlooking the golf course on one side and the ocean on the other. Restaurant staff is always smiling and so courteous. Yoli, Betty and Daylinn took care of us the whole week we were there. The food is so good. Who can complain with seafood?? Lobster is amazing as usual. A great variety to suit everyone's needs and likes. The beach is stunning. One of the most beautiful beaches I have seen so fat. Entertainment staff is great. A special thank you to Giovanni, manager of entertainment who always made sure we were taken care off. The dancers are unique! Great shows. Misael, Guapito, David and Sergio made us feel at home. Sooo friendly. Last but not least Bernard. We had the pleasure of meeting the hotel manager and he was always there with a smile and ready to say good morning. Thank you for your hospitality. We are looking forward to coming again!

Once again the MLA did not disappoint. The location, the beach, the food and the staff were all excellent. The new GM is very approachable. In fact he will come by to say hello many times during your stay. The restaurants and staff were very good and bar staff were excellent including Raul, Javier, Muilyn, Leslie, Juse, Ariel, Roberto and Anabell. TREMENDO!!

We look forward to visiting there again in the near future.

Thanks to everyone for another great trip! Muchas Gracias!!

Room Tip: Always get at least an oceanview room. It's worth the extra few dollars / day.

We have just returned from our stay at the Melia Las Ameicas (Sept. 28-Oct.5) and were very pleased. It was our first time to Cuba so we did our research and we were impressed with the reviews this hotel received. From the moment we stepped inside the impressive lobby we were warmly received by employees at the front desk and we continued to have wonderful service by all staff at this resort. The food was delicious at the Buffet and at all of the A La Cartes. In all honesty if there were no A La Cartes I would have been happy to eat from the Buffet all week. There was a wide variety of food that changed from night to night and we found the food to be seasoned quite nicely. We had heard that food in Cuba was 'bland'...this was absolutely not the case here. When travelling on excursions outside the hotel guests from other resorts were talking about how we were in the best resort...from the food to the grandeur of the hotel. Clearly, this only reinforced how we were already feeling.

We found the beach to be spectacular! It was quiet and there were always chairs available. We thoroughly enjoyed the live music at the bar and enjoyed our drinks...would definitely try the Banana Momma...delicious!! The hot dogs hit the spot as well...great snack when you don't want to leave the beach and go into the buffet.

We did not go into the pools at the resort...simply because we are more beach people...but they looked beautiful.

We also enjoyed the nightly entertainment. The piano player in the lobby was fabulous and helped to add to the ambiance of the hotel. We also thoroughly enjoyed the young couple who sang and played guitar outside on the patio. So relaxing. We did attend some of the shows for a short while and found them to be entertaining as well.

We really could not say enough about our experience here and would not hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone.

On a side note...the trip into Havana is not to be missed. Amazing!!! We just went for the day trip. It is a two hour bus ride from the resort (air conditioned bus)...it is part walking tour, with a break along the way to stretch your legs (you may want to bring your own toilet paper or Kleenex on this trip) and it includes lunch and a visit to a Flea Market. Felix was our tour guide. He was very informative and was great at answering all of our questions. We left at 8 am and returned by 7 pm. It is a great way to see the Cuban countryside.

We also went on the Snorkelling/Saturno Cave excursion...also excellent. If possible bring a disposable underwater camera...we would do that next time. This trip was just a half day so you could be back at the resort in time to enjoy the beach for the afternoon.

I hesitate to say this because this did not affect our experience overall however if I had one recommendation to make it would be to beef up the mattresses with a foam topper...just to add to the comfort level. Obviously, I recognize that individuals will all have a personal preference when it comes to their mattress and sleep habits.

This resort is adult only and we were told that some adult resorts really had a 'party' type atmosphere. This was absolutely not the case so we were quite pleased to see guests of all ages enjoying their experience in a quiet respectful manner.

On a side note we had heard and read a lot about tipping. There seemed to be two schools of thought on the subject...in that you could tip in cash or tip in 'gifts'. We did not feel entirely comfortable bringing 'gifts' and did wonder how to present them. We opted to tip in cash and did notice that most other guests tipped in this manner as well. We did not see any evidence of 'gift tipping'.

Thank you to all of the staff for making our holiday so pleasant.

P.S. I noticed a couple of reviews that made note of poor air conditioning. This was not the case in our room. It worked great and kept the room very comfortable

Room Tip: We stayed on the fourth floor overlooking the golf course. Fabulous view of the Gulf as well.
