The food was great, but not much choice left - no dessert options, not all starters and main, which I found appalling. Could you not replace them or borrowed from other restaurants? They areopen-air restaurant, so if the weather is stormy or rainy it is not the best idea. The food was nice though. Service was average

I stayed at Sol Palmeras in March of 2006, 2010, and visited the resort for part of a day in March of 2011. La Panchita is located on the ground floor, and the beautiful gardens can be seen through the windows. A small sailboat hull is on display in front of the restaurant. On many occasions sparkling wine was available to taste, as you entered the dining room. To your right are serving tables with juices, cereals, cold cut meats, sliced fruits, sauces and selection of cheeses. There is a pizza oven-hot table, though the pizza was a little bland to my taste. Flanking the kitchen were grill areas for meat , fish, pork ,hot dogs, hamburgers. There was usually a huge cooked fish, turkey,or ham, for slicing available. Popular food stations were the omelette, and grilled foods-shrimp and fish fillets. In the middle of the dining room are hot tables with a wide variety of cooked vegetables, bacon and Cuban style vegetables. There is also a bread selection station for fresh bread. There were always french fried potatoes. There is also a dessert island where bananas were fried; and a wide variety of bite- sized cake , cookie, and small pasteries were available. Local fruit in season was available- Guava, papaya ,and the small bananas were delicious. Coffee was available in several selections from automatic machines. Waiters have red ,white, and rose Spanish wines available to accompany meals. I would suggest you know the opening and closing times for La Panchita and arrive early. Be sure to tip a convertible peso, or two, to your servers. They will get to know you and your table preferences.
