We went there for dinner with two other couples. What a surprise to see such fabulous smorgasbord style dinner ,there was just everything from lamb meat. Chicken, beef . Pork and fish and they cook it right in front of you to your specifications. It sure was a good place to dine for $19 per person , that was very reasonable

Dear Herman S,

Many thanks for having chosen our hotel to dine during your stay in Santiago de Cuba . It is a tremendous pleasure to read you enjoyed our buffet La Casona restaurant so much and could find an elegant spread of cold and hot foods inspired by tradition with an excellent price-quality relation.

We hope you will be able to visit again in the future and maybe, why not, to stay with us.

Kindest regards and many thanks for your pleasant review.

Sra. Beatriz Rizo

I have stayed at Melia Santiago De Cuba during my visit to Santiago De Cuba in August 2019. Very clean and a nice hotel located very conveniently. The view from the outside is very inviting, the lobby and the reception area is beautifully marbled very spacious and welcoming. The straff throughout the hotel were very professional, friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfasts were amazing, a wonderful selection. Also the restaurant food was excellent and the staff were superb!

The location of the hotel is great and right in the middle of everything which within very short distance. The Level Junior Suite room which I had stayed was very spacious and well equipped with all essentials.

My special thanks to Libia, the Manager Public Relations who welcomed me and given me the Level upgrade with the recommendation of the public relations crew at Melia Marina Varedero as I am a frequent guest. Thanks again to Libia and her colleagues Yadira and Pedro for their support and also calling and checking on me very often to make sure everything alright. I really enjoyed my stay and will visit again. Also absolutely I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to visitors to Santiago De Cuba.

The stay at this hotel got my two children sick (food poisoning) and my wife developed a terrible skin rash from the pool. The services was horrible and the waiters were not able to write down the food and beverages order because the party was "too big." My father in law observed one of the kitchen workers handle the cooked rice with his bare hands. I will NEVER go to this place again!!!!!

Hotel is not the nicest to look out, a large glass tower and it is on the edge of town (although the walk is quite enjoyable and only take 10 - 15 mins). Rooms are average, ours was clean and functional although the bathroom was quite small. Breakfast was nice, and we also ate in the 'open air' Italian restaurant and the food was very good. They have three pools, one for adults one which is suitable for older children and a paddling pool for small kids/ babies. Service was good, and we had an enjoyable stay.

Thanks for your wonderful comments related to your recent stay in our facility. It is always a pleasure to receive such nice feedback and the best way to realize how we are doing.

Good you liked the arquitecture and the different restaurants of the hotel. But the most important detail is that service was good, allowing you to have an enjoyable stay.

Hope you can come back some day,

We would highly NOT recomment to go to Melia Santiago. I would also like to explain in detail why not because there are lots of reasons.

First of all the price is way to high for what they offer you. You can go to any Casa particular for a price between 15-35 CuC, depending on the number of guests (1-2), have an amazing breakfast and meet nice people. In Melia we paid over 110$ the night for sassy staff.

Rooms:
It starts with the pictures who doesnt show at all how the room really looks. The rooms are unclean, there is no shower and AC does what it wants, but for sure not what you want it to do.

Staff:
There is a lot of staff, id say way to much for half of them standing around and chatting about you. without intending to make it sound sexist, the men are far more helpfull. In nearly every situation when we asked something to a woman, the first thing you see is eyes rolling and mouth gasping. Everytime we tried to get some help, they just told us that we are not saying the truth and made it sound like if it was our fault, that, as an example, they had no towels in the pool area. I would say we are easy guests, but for 110$ we had some excpectations for a minimum of kidness. They are lazy and sassy!

Pool Area:
If you want to get a drink there, get it yourself, otherwise you wait at least 40 Minutes as we had to for 2 Mojitos, more than once. Staff is throwing their garbage on the floor right in front of you.

Overall:
We had at least 5 confrontations with the staff in which we asked to talk to the manager, who was always there by the way but never came to talk to us. At the end of our 7 days stay which costed us nearly 1000$ all the staff was chatting about us. It was really a bad experience and i will never go back to this hotel again.

Dear Mr. KasparThero:

Thank you for providing us your feedback in regards to your recent stay at the Melia Santiago de Cuba.

Please accept my sincere apology for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay especially the attitude of the staff.

We really dislike not being able to meet your expectations. What strikes us most in your comments is what you related about the attitude of the staff,(which is our strongest point).

We did an exhaustive analysis of each point as I promised you when we talked before you leave. You are a valued guest and without your continued business we would not be successful. Your trust in our brand is most important to us and everything we do is aimed at providing you with a positive guest experience.

We really hope to have the pleasure of hosting you again when your travels bring you back to Santiago de Cuba, and you can change your perception about us.

Best regards,

Manuel Rios Rodero,
