Description: El Templete is a bayside restaurant. This restaurant is named ofter neighboring landmark built in 1928 that marks the spot where the settlement of San Cristóbal de la habana was founded in 1519. Originally opened sometimes between 1928 and 1931, it was the second restaurant in the city to have this name, and soon became the favorite of sailors, ahip captains and port pilots. Known since the 1950s as ¨The house of shellfish and international cuisine¨it was famous for its lobsters, shrimps, prawn, clams and delicious paellas, served while customers took in the splendid view of Havana.Today, El Templete revives its seafering tradition in the same atmosphere and continues serving delicious dishes prepared by its excellent Spanish Chef.Past and present come togetherto offer us first-class service and a wide variety of dishes to choose from.

Our family went there one evening for a special meal. Food was fantastic as was service, surroundings and location. Certainly the best restaurant we went to in Cuba by far. Yet cost was still reasonable.

We visited this restaurant on the basis that our guide book strongly recommended the fish. And we were not disappointed. For the main course we ordered the catch of the day, and the fish was both fresh and cooked to perfection. There was also a good choice of starters and the whole meal, including the wine, was reasonably priced. Service was fine - prompt and efficient with, for example, an ice bucket being produced automatically and speedily for the white wine. The atmosphere was a little lacking, however. We could have been pretty much anywhere in the world, and one half of the outside space was occupied by a large tour group, but overall El Templete was our best eating experience in Havana.

Okay, this is a little bit expencive restaurant in terms of cuban food but it is all worth it! The food is fresh and very good. Tastes very good. This restaurant is famous of their seafood but meat is also good. The atmosphere is actually quite international and this restaurant could be anywhere else in the world. So its not Cuban maybe but the food is delicious.

We heard excellent news from El Templete, but we are very disappointed. After the acceptable starter we got a Tuna Fish (ordered rear) and a grilled fish. The Tuna was so well done, that we sent it back. It arrived medium.... The grilled fish was so much overcooked that it was near to chewing gum... We told our maid and our waiter too about our disappointment. We expected that at least a boss of management would appear and talk about our diappointment, perhaps would apologize and at least would offer a coffee. Nothing at all.
I think after the excellent results we had with Paladares this shows the difference between state controlled and private managed Paladares......
