Splendid beach not far from downtown La Habana
CLear water & withe sand with nice cafes on the beach with good drinks and snacks also with fish
We enjoyed this sparsely populated beach so much that we went twice during our short stay in Havana to swim in the pristine waters, walk through the fluffy, soft, and clean sands
Not where the tourists go. lovely beach with plenty of room and only two places to eat. Ideal for a lazy day on the beach with not much else to do
A $10 taxi ride or $5 on the bus from Parque Central (last bus returns at 6).
Most people go to the beach at Tropicoco which is good for the most services and for people watching.
Quieter beaches extend east and west.
These can be prettier than Tropicoco but be aware of which way the current is running if you are near a river or stream
(they are often polluted, especially after a rain).
Occasionally the water is full of beautiful Portuguese man o' war.
Do not go near them or you can be badly stung.
We took a bus from Central park and for 5CUC back and forth we got transferred to Santa Maria beach. More local than touristy, great beach, beds and umbrellas to rent. Food service also available.
This is the nicest beach area near Havana - "Playas del Este" The beach called Santa Maria del Mar is the one to go to! In the area you will find lower accommodations in the 3* category. It is located about 20 minutes away from downtown Havana.
