If the Ballet Nacional de Cuba is in town, beg, borrow or steal a ticket to see them. You can usually get tickets from the box office but if that fails try the many touts outside half an hour before the performance. The theatre has been repaired and is in generally good condition but the quality of dancing of the Cubal ballet is second only to the great companies of Russia and you will be thrilled by any of their performances. Performances are usually without an orchestra but you'll forget that after the curtain rises! A list of performances scheduled is written on notice boards outside and a ticket will cost you about 20 CUC. The bar has no roof so choose your table carefully if rain is forecast. Have a pre or post ballet drink on the patio bar of the Hotel Inglaterra next door.
