Make sure you have a guide who will take you through the great art that Cuban and others have done in Cuba. A beautiful gallery, worth a visit.

We spent a rainy afternoon wandering around the many levels of floors and a huge number of Artists and really found many hidden gems

This is a very attractive venue. Normally I am pretty bored in art galleries but this was really special. I only managed to see half of it which was the Colonial Cuban art. I found it very beautiful and I felt very moved by it. I always meant to go back because I had heard that the contemporary art is excellent.
I would have bought lots of postcards from the shop afterwards but they had a limited selection and the quality of the paper was not very good. But it's really worth a visit. The bathroom was clean and you can leave your bag in the cloakroom.

Some lovely art in this gallery. Air conditioning is great if you want to cool down. Avoid the guides if you want a good look. They only take you to what they want you to see and they always put their hand out. Get an entry ticket that excludes the guide and just wander and enjoy. If you are a real art buff then you can always ask the guide in the room. All the labels are naturally in Spanish.

The CONTENTS are world-class. The air conditioning is not! Still, if you wear tropical clothing, you should be able to withstand the heat. Cuban art is not widely available outside Cuba. This museum has the country's biggest and best collections, and art enthusiasts absolutely have to see it. We spent an entire day there, and did not feel we had spent too long. The restaurant is not great, but handy.
