“Wonderful hosts, amazing casa!!”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

We stayed with Roberto, Zoraida, Mami, Papi and of course the famous Dinka for 3 days at the end of May 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Everything from the location of the Casa, the quality of the accommodation, the food and of course our hosts was better than we could have anticipated! Nothing was too much trouble for Roberto and Zoraida who arranged transport from the airport for us (in the car we asked for), provided us with maps and guidance of the local area, recommendations of restaurants and a big welcoming smile and good conversation every day. We also met some truly amazing fellow travellers who were also staying at the Casa and enjoyed an evening of food and vodka together! I couldn't have asked for anything more and can't wait to go back (with a bit more Spanish next time :))

This was the nicest place we stayed in Cuba. Not only is the location really good but our hosts made us feel like part of the family.

The rooms may be quite dark but who cares when you can sit below the plants and drink a cup of tea in the evening and talk to family? (You are welcome to use their kitchen - but bring your own tea it is hard to find in Cuba.) Or when you can walk out the door and be part of the local neighbourhood but only a short walk away from everything you want to see?

This is also a great place to stay with children. The host family actually like children so much that they don't even mind that they had to move lots of things to get them away from our 1 1/2 year old, or that our children woke up at 5 in the morning for the first couple of days.

So if you are looking for a home away from home in a rally good location this is where you should go.

Room Tip: They have 3 rooms, 2 of which are located next to each other. This is a good choice if you need more...

Roberto, Zoraida, mami, papi & Dinka (the dog) are the best hosts we had in Havana. We stayed 4 nights in their beautiful home, right in the center of Havana Vieja. The house is perfectly located, within a few minutes of most tourists attractions, major hotels, plazas and the Malecon. Roberto & Zoraida treated us like family, our breakfast was fresh, delicious and plentiful, the room and bathroom clean and the common areas cozy and welcoming. They also became our de facto tour information desk, happily providing lots of cool information about where to go eat, dance and explore. We stayed in 4 locations throughout Cuba and this was by far the best. This is definitely the place to stay while in Havana.

Roberto ,Zoraida and Mummy definitely mean this,as this made a memorial stay in Habana Vieja! you could not wish for better hosts (and I hope friends) as nothing was too much trouble including worrying and staying up late when we bad boys arrived at the casa one evening very late. Roberto and Zoraida are excellent ambassodors for Cuba!

We stayed with Roberto & Zoraida for a total of 4 nights at the beginning & end of our trip. The have a beautiful casa right in the heart of Habana Vieja. The rooms & bathrooms were very clean with air conditioning, breakfasts were lovely & our hosts very friendly & welcoming. Roberto, Zoraida & "mummy" definitely want everyone to feel at home in their casa - "mi casa, su casa!" Roberto speaks english & was very helpful providing a map with all the points of interest & advice about getting around Havana safely! They are both very gracious hosts despite late night arrivals, early morning departures (with punctual pre booked taxis waiting). When we showed up on their doorstep after an overnight bus trip 2 days earlier than expected, they happily organised for us to stay at another casa a couple of doors down until they had rooms free. We also enjoyed talking to Roberto about the renovations he's done, the history of his casa & about Cuba in general. We would definitely recommend this casa to anyone visiting Havana.

We had a fantastic 5 day stay at Casa Colonial. Roberto and Zonaida were absolutely wonderful hosts who helped us organise airport taxi transfers, provided excellent breakfasts, and not only made us feel amazingly welcome but were a great source of information as to what to do, where to go, where to eat etc. The location is perfect for anyone wanting to explore old Havana as it is walking distance to pretty much everything. To top it all off the value was excellent.

Stayed here over Christmas 2012 for 6 nights. There were up to 13 people in our group. 6 of us stayed at Casa Colonial 1715, the others stayed at casas nearby, including with their relatives across the street. Roberto and his wife (and their dog) were extremely accommodating during our stay. We always felt at home and they would not hesitate to let us in during the late hours of the night.

The location was fantastic. Our room had a private bathroom - clean no problems getting hot water. The air-conditioning worked well.

Breakfast was great - fried eggs, bread, mounds of fruit, coffee/tea, tomatoes, flan. They even accommodated 13 of us in their dining area! We were each offered a cigar every morning by Roberto.

Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Really couldn't ask for more in the heart of Old Havana.

Room Tip: They're all good!
