“Best food ever!!!”
Reviewed June 7, 2012

I loooved this restaurant. It's located on the upper level of an old building. The architecture is beautiful and you can overlook the open square below that will look great once renovated. It was nice to see the rain falling through. Or you can be seated in a more private room at the back where our tour group sat.
You have the choice between 15 items, or Dish 11 is a combination of 2 items. Choose this one!!
My absolute favorite is "Old Clothes." It's shredded beef in a delicious sauce that I can't even describe. My 2nd option was grilled lobster. Amazing! For 15 CUC's, you get 2 items, plus a drink, rice, black beans and bread rolls.

“The building alone is worth the trip”
Reviewed December 15, 2011

We visited this restaurant while enjoying a day's outing in Havana. It isn't in the best part of town. Actually it is in what looked to us, one of the poorer areas of Havana, there are a lot of decaying buildings in the area but it truly gives you a look at how some of the Cubans live. The restaurant is in a three storey building, it being on the 3rd floor and not having elevators it is quite a walk up the stairs, especially if you have a mobility problem. It is a small place with a fixed menu, all meals are 15 cucs each, (approximately $13.50 Cdn.) The menu choices consist of shrimp, pork, hamburger, chicken lobser, etc. It is served with fried beans and rice on the side. Also included is a beer, (Cristal) or a soft drink. The meals are pretty good, there were 4 of us and we all had something different and agreed the food was tasty and well prepared. The waitresses are not fluent in English so they had to find an interpreter to take our order. It is very noisy but we were there right in the middle of the lunch hour. The building it is housed in is worth the trip to the restaurant. It is not in good repair but the architecure is magnificent. There are doors that are two stories high, and some pretty impressive art work. The stairs are much longer that we are used to, they are almost a storey and a half. . Not sure if we would go back, but we are glad we did get to see it.

“Authentic Cuban fare, good price, fantastic building!”
Reviewed March 15, 2011

We had a delicious lunch at this restaurant. The have a fixed price menu - for 15 cucs you can choose from an assortment of grilled meats - pork, beef, shrimp, lobster, chicken etc along with rice, black beans, and vegetables. Included in the price is a glass of beer, wine or soft drink as well as a coffee after your meal.
The day we were there they were sold of lobster - I would guess this happens often given that it is the same price as pork! I had the garlic shrimp which were delicious and others in our party enjoyed the grilled pork.
Don't be surprised when you enter the building - the main floor is in a beautiful state of disrepair. There is a dance school housed in the same building. You'll have to walk two large flights of stairs so this is of note if you have mobility limitations. The building is fascinating and we had the pleasure of watching a fantastic band practise on the mainfloor after lunch.
