“Same patio????”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

I might be wrong about the name, but we went to a restaurant called el Patio, right outside a big old church, the cathedral I believe and half a block from la Bodeguita. It doesn't look like the picture you have.
Anyway. The place was super nice, outside, the food was good, the wine was good and the price of the wine was good too. The sommelier invited some of the party to check their cava. People were very friendly.

“Don't get the chicken”
Reviewed April 29, 2012

We choose this restaurant under the advice of our tour guide. The location was close to where our tour ended and we were hungry.
I had the fish which was very good, my sister ordered the chicken. Her chicken was a thigh and wing which had been beaten flat and was served with the skin still attached so at first glance it looked like a really big piece. The flavour was good but what I would consider small portions for 18CUC a plate. There was also lobster and beef to choose from. Each plate came with vegetables and potatoes and was served with fresh buns. The view and ambiance were fantastic as this restaurant was located roof top with a fantastic view over old Havana and the water.
You have to climb 3 flights of stairs to get to the restaurant and there is no elevator. The beer was cold and like I said the view fantastic. Our meal totaled 44CUC for 2 lunches, 2 beer and 1 bottle of water.

“Every experience is unique I guess...”
Reviewed March 15, 2012

We had some cold and warm tapas on the terrace for lunch and decided to go again at night. But this time we had a lovely table on the second floor on one of the balcony overlooking the cathedral.

The menu is different than the one downstairs, more creative and also a bit more expensive...but you pay for the view and for better food.

Our waiter was extremely friendly (rare thing in Cuba), the view was like an opera scene and the food was the best one we had in Cuba: nicely seasoned, great ingredients, nicely presented.

We were happily surprised after all the bad meals we had to suffer in Cuba!

Yours to try but remember...sit in the loggia on the second floor and not on the terrace downstairs.

“lovely location, horrible food”
Reviewed February 27, 2012

I just returned from a week in Cuba. We went to El Patio the first night. The setting is lovely, with outdoor seating overlooking a beautifully lit cathedral square - but beware of being seated in a noisy and enclosed upstairs room as we were. The service was rude but the biggest issue was that the food was the worst we had in a country known for bad food. Skip it!
