“Great value and location!”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

We stayed at the Casa Amada for one night in late-March. The room was simple and clean, with a basic ensuite bathroom. We originally wanted to book a hotel in the city, but were very happy staying at the Casa, as it gave us a flavour of real Havana city living. The room had an A/C unit which we could turn on with the flip of a switch, which made for a comfortable night's sleep. The common sitting area and terrace overlooking Calle Lealtad were cute and comfortable. We had a lovely homemade breakfast for 4 CUC, which included fresh local fruit and juice, toast, eggs and coffee. I would definitely recommend this Casa for anyone looking for the real Cuban experience! The Casa owners were super friendly, and very hospitable... thanks for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Our friends had the bedroom facing the street, which was a bit noisy and the city traffic woke them...

The location of the casa is convenient. Walk-able distance to main attractions.
There is a nice and quiet living room and a comfy dining room. We had breakfast there and the fruit were fresh.
The rooms are clean and tidy with windows facing the corridor and patio. There is ok hot water supply for shower which is very nice. Tourist might note that there are some which don't have sufficient hot water supply.
The owner and staff are nice and helpful. However, I don't speak Spanish, so it was a little bit difficult to communicate.
Value for money.

We stayed here for a night at the end of January after much research about casas in Havana. I am glad we ended up choosing this place because it was very clean, the owners were friendly, and location was ideal - right in the middle of ordinary Havana, which made for a really genuine experience. The sights and sounds of the neighbourhood were a bit overwhelming at first, but once you get your bearings it was very enjoyable to just wander around and absorb the energy. Landmarks and attractions are a stones throw away.

We spent 3 nights in this friendly casa. The very clean room faced the patio and so was very quiet. Water, soft drinks and beer were in the fridge. Bathroom was fine, shower worked properly and did have hot water. The owner and staff were very nice and helpful - from preparing an extra cup of coffee before breakfast to helping us, when we had a flat tire and needed it fixed.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room not facing the street because it is quieter. You can observe all the street l...

what a great introduction to the Cuban way of life, luxury Cuban style.
Me and my family stayed here for 4 nights in november and if you want a taste of the real Cuban way of life then this is the place to stay, yes communication is difficult but thats what you want ..isnt it?why go to a different country and expect the residents to speak OUR language?makes your holiday all the more fun. Dont expect 5* luxury cause you wont get it here but what you do get is a real nice homely place and very tastefully decorated and with furniture that you havent seen for years.....brill.The food aint bad and cheap, youll get your huebos any way you want for brekky,we thought that the food was better than some of the resteraunts had to offer,Marritza is the cook and she seems to always have a smile on her face, and if you can then try her chicken "creole" style and the coffee wilk keep you awake for days on end its that strong! excellent!
The casa is just 10 min walk to the centro or 4/5 pesos on a bike taxi and theres no curfew on what time to get in at night..........go and enjoy Havana berore capitalism gets its hands on it
Thanks to all at the Casa Amada.

Room Tip: not sure what to put here but our rooms were quiet, beds were comfy and pretty basic but this is Cuba...

We spent 4 nights at this Casa and felt like at home. The hosts are very nice and helpful. Quiet often we found ourselves sitting in the kitchen eating some fruits and drinking strong Cuban coffee, chatting to the owner and the staff. The rooms are quiet, which is rare in Havana, very clean, and the food is good.
