My friends and I stayed here for a week and we were very pleased with everything, the guest service and the attention was top notch, also the rooms were very clean and spacious with a very unique decor. The breakfast was delicious with many choices and the best cafe con leche I had, the staff was super friendly. They also have Internet access. Overall I recommend this hotel to everyone, fun, clean, friendly and awesome service.

I loved this hotel!! The building is beatiful, it made me feel like if I really was in the cuban 19th century. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A very nice buffet is offered for breakfast, which I enjoyed in their super nice patio. Conveniently located in the most popular street in Old Havana, a calle obispo. This was my best experience from the three times I've been in Cuba and I will definately stay in Florida Hotel during my next visit to Havana.

We arrived at the hotel and they informed us that there is no room for us. They send us in another hotel for the first night and they told us that they will send a taxi after the breakfast at the other hotel to pick us up. When we left the room at the other hotel, because it was already 12 o clock and we had to, the receptionist informed us that we had to wait for the taxi from Florida hotel. The taxi came one and a half hour later and we where waiting at the lobby with the luggages! When finally reached the Florida hotel they told us to wait until 2 o clock in order to check in because the room wasn't ready yet! At the afternoon when we tried to have a shower for going out, we realised that there was no hot water! There was NO hot water none of the 3 nights we stayed at this hotel! We left the hotel one night earlier than we had paid for because was impossible to have a shower without hot water! The first morning at the hotel we tried the breakfast which was really bad also! We paid for the breakfast all the other days!

Room Tip: Do not pay for hotel like this! Read the comments and give your money to hotels that offer good serv...

This was a new hotel for me with my group of birdwatching folk who also want a bit of culture! I had been around it in 2012 and thought it looked as though it would suit. The lobby area is simply lovely and a cool and welcome respite from the hurly-burly of the city. Check-in was easy and quick for nine rooms. One of the single rooms had only a window that opened on to a ventilation shaft and two rooms had no toilet seats but otherwise everyone was very happy. An enquiry at the desk about the toilet seats produced a genuine apology but there was a problem getting new ones once they are broken - this is Cuba! Bags all taken to rooms very swiftly. Problems: the breakfast isn't great. Some rooms are noisy at night - mine was above the disco - and rooms above the street (Obispo) are noisy but you are in the centre of one of the most vibrant cities on earth. Coffee and cocktails in the bar were very good and lunch in the restaurant on the last day was good too. So if you want a reasonable priced hotel right in the thick of things and don't mind a little noise, this is as good a place as any.

Arrived 8 pm to be told there was only one room left, room 101, but were promised a move to a better room next day. Room 101 had no window, the bathroom walls were black with mould and there was a strong smell of damp. We made it clear we were not pleased but there were no other rooms available and we were too tired to argue so we put up with it for one night. Next day we were moved to room 19 which was a huge improvement and we stayed there quite happily for the next three nights. On arrival we were too tired to go out looking for somewhere to eat so opted to eat in the hotel - big mistake, probably the worst meal we had in Cuba, although breakfasts were fine. With one exception the staff were at best indifferent, on occasions downright unhelpful. The exception (a young man - Tulio?) was very helpful and went some way to make up for the shortcomings of his colleagues. On a positive note, the hotel is in a great location, within easy walking distance of most places of interest, and is housed in a beautiful old building.

Room Tip: Avoid room 101 at all costs.

We first went 10 years ago and loved. This year invited 6 friends... mistake. Arrived in evening to be told we had no rooms and shunted to another hotel which was truly bad. Went back to Florida next day to check in. Although we had booked 4 x same standard rooms we got different. Our room bed not newly made up. Mould on ceiling and walls. Staff indifferent to complaints. Happy to leave after 2 days.

Room Tip: Am trying to think of a tip.

We stayed at Hotel Florida last year and found it a charming hotel with very good service. This year the condition and service at the hotel was awful. The bathroom off the lobby had no toilet seats and you had to pay for toilet paper. Our room had peeling paint. The shower went off and on and was not very warm. The breakfast was inedible and was miissing butter of all things. The staff was not pleasant or helpful. And the price went up. Last year we paid ~$120 and this year the price was $200, absolutely outrageous for the accommodation, food and service.

Room Tip: #19 was our room and very small in a very odd shape..narrow so that it was difficult to walk past th...
