As mentioned in other earlier reviews you cannot beat the location. Make sure you stay in the 'old' part of the hotel if you want the old colonial feel, light filled atrium in the lobby bar with table service and cigar trolley dolly all adds to the atmosphere. If you are a non-smoker, don't worry, the air conditioning must be good but because it was never over powering and the are non smoking areas. True, one lift wasn't working when we stayed but this didn't cause us too many problems and the pool area/roof top bar is great. The grill restaurant was lovely, one of the best meals I have had anywhere and the breakfast buffet is of a high standard (don't expect English style bacon or sausages). plenty of people outside the hotel offering all sorts of trips/taxis/horses/cigars etc but a polite, firm 'no thank you' or 'no thanks I am going home today' normally fends them off. well worth doing the American car/walking tour combo which highlights all the main features of old Havana and really adds to what you find on your own and is reasonably priced with stops for a few mojitos on the way. I can se why this place is rated number 1 we had reports form other hotels which were not too favourable so if you can go for Parque Central.

Stayed in the new wing of this hotel for 4 nights. Facilities are top rate with two roof top pools with amazing views across Havana. Staff very friendly and accommodating, maid service very good. Lots of yummy food to choose from at breakfast and the coffee is lovely. Bed was so huge i couldn't find my husband but very good nights sleep.

Walking into the beautiful hotel reception after such a long journey was dream like. Its Elegant style and its warm atmosphere made the journey melt away.

Only downsides mini bar prices a bit high and so to is dinner in the restaurant but its 5* so expect it to be expensive. Also can be a lot of road noise due to location so take ear plugs, we were so glad we took bioears.

In such a good location obviously in parque central but you are really close to museums, gallery's, capitol building, restaurants and bars. If i go back to Havana i shall use this hotel with confidence.

I find it dificult to rate this hotel. It's in an amazing location, it has 2 pools (though not enough loungers) excellent food, one of the best breakfast buffets you will find anywhere, but the staff let it down. I don't know whether it's because it is owned by a Spanish company who are running a tight ship, but there isn't enough staff. Every other hotel I stayed in Cuba had lots of staff, wages are cheap, but at checkin here, they generally had only 2 staff on, when they have massive groups checking in. They only have 1 set of doors open, so everyone trying to get in & out of 1 door is crazy, especially as the doorman is only interested in actually helping you, if you want him to get you a cab or a tour, so he can get his cut. I arrived in the rain, no ne helped me with the door or my bags. Checkin, was no hello or anything, again no offer to help with the bags. I had asked to be in the old part with a view of Parque Central, which they did do, the room is fine, large with a safe. The pool in the new part is lovely, the old part is a bit dated but great views. The jacuzzi only has 1 jet that works, but the most ridiculous thing is the pool towels, you check them out, that's fine, but I was almost tackled at the lift when I tried to go down to my room with it, I was expected to get in the lift wet, with just my bikini on!!! Seriously just have pool towels in the rooms, if they aren't there when you check out, bill them. To be honest the whole tone of the hotel was set from the booklet in the room, insted of "guest info" it was called "guest rules" basically stated, you abey the rules or we cancel your booking!!! It's a very busy hotel, definately under staffed for the amount of guests, and this really shows. It has 3 lifts in the old part, 1 constantly didnt work for the 5 days i was there, the other 2 are very slow. So if you don't mind being treated as if you are nothing, ths hotel does good facillities & is in a great location, but it wasn't the Cuban people I had experienced everywhere else.

Room Tip: If you want a view then ask t be in the old part of the hotel on 600's or 700's, with a view...

Dear Tina H.

We would like to thank you for choosing to stay at our hotel. We are disappointed to read that you didn't find our staff friendly and that you have gotten the perception that we are understaffed. I would like to assure you, that, a hotel running at its top capacity, cannot operate understaffed and checking our May records I can guarantee you that our front desk was completely operational. When we have many check-ins at the same time, we divide the agencies in different parts of the lobby in order to speed up the check-in process and maybe that was the case when you arrived. We apologize if you felt our staff was not kind to you, we are always training our staff and we have surveys of customer satisfaction twice a month, besides the client's book and the management always present (including me) in order to assure that the attention is given to our customers.

Unfortunately we have a problem with 1 of our lifts, this situation is not in our hands and we can promise you the hotel's management has already done everything in their hands in order to fix it. We need to wait for the spare parts as they are not available in Cuba.

Once again we apologize for the perception you took back home.

If you are going to stay and visit Havana then this Hotel is in a perfect location with everything you need and more. Excellent rooms, great shower, fantastic food and great pina colada's. One tip if you do stay there - don't bother queing up to change your money, just bill everything to your room and go to the bank at breakfast time the following day because believe me it will take you 10 minutes instead on 2 hours!! Rooftop pool and bar were excellent. Another tip is to book a "proper" tour of the city in a convertible american car and walking tour but book it from the hotel NOT from the guys in the street, You will see everything, if it's sunny make sure you take a hat!
Overall well worth it's number one rating.

After 3 weeks around Cuba staying in Casa Particulars we spent 3 nights here meeting up with family.
First impressions were poor with check-in staff not helpful but things improved. The hotel is next to the main plaza and the lobby has a nice old world feel to it. While waiting for our room (could not check in until 4pm!) we spent a few lazy hours by the pool, this was a little disorganised again as they had no record of us being guests.
The pool is on the roof and has a great view of the city although the pool is small and there are a lack of lounge chairs for the size of the hotel (also take sunscreen as there is not a lot of shade).
Our room was absolutely huge as was our bed and the room was nicely decorated. The bathroom was fully equipped and the shower was fantastic with hot water and strong power.
Our breakfast was included and the buffet was good although chaotic at times as the hotel seemed very busy. We also ate dinner in the same restaurant and the quality of the food and service was very good.
There was no internet while we stayed there but this was not very important to us.
This is a good upscale hotel choice in prime location but just note that service and efficiency in Cuba is not what you get elsewhere but although we prefer to stay in Casa Particulars when visiting Cuba this was a nice luxurious change.

My partner and I stayed here in April for 4 nights and the best thing about this hotel is it's location. From the hotel you can easily explore old Havana and there are numerous excursions available for you to get around the rest of the city. It was our first time to Cuba and Havana is a real experience. It is like stepping back into the 1950's with the old classic cars and stunning architecture. The Parque has 2 parts a bit like Havana itself. We stayed in the old typically colonial style part of the hotel but you can also access the new more modern side, which is a real plus as both parts of the hotel have excellent restaurants and rooftop pools. I personally preferred the old part of the hotel, the view from the pool bar is beautiful and the cocktails in the lobby bar are to die for. The food and drink in the restaurant is not cheap but you get what you pay for and we didn't find it anymore expensive than eating out or going for drinks in Manchester or any other city. I can highly recommend the Steak house and the top floor restaurant in the new part of the hotel where you can eat excellent quality food whilst overlooking the city. The staff in the hotel are extremely helpful, they will do anything for you and the service at breakfast is good, you will not go short of coffee! I had read rave reviews about the breakfasts here and I have to say that I think that the breakfasts in Cuba are prepared more with Canadian and German tourists in mind. If you are looking for a good full English, you will be disappointed. Having said that the omelettes are very good and the staff catered for my gluten allergy better than I expected. This is a good hotel for getting to know Havana and if I was to return I would certainly choose the Parque again. It's 5* rating however is not on a par with a 5* in England, mainly because the rooms although clean and spacious are quite dated and we were unfortunate not to have a city view. Also a tip before you go, outside the hotel there are a myriad of enthusiastic Cubans just dying to sell you cigars, take you on a trip around the city, escort you to Buena Vista Social Club, the Salsa festival etc... Be careful!! Cuba is very safe and the people are friendly but they live in such poverty that they will seize the opportunity to make some money out of you. We got burnt on the first night by paying over the odds for cigars and being followed around by people trying to take us to every restaurant in the city. So a polite 'no thank you I am meeting friends in town' should do the trick when you first get there. Look around and get advice from your rep before you start handing over any cash.
All in all we really enjoyed Havana, it was an experience we will never forget. We did a trip round new Havana in an open top Cadillac and saw loads of live music, including a street festival with people on stilts. If I was to book this again I would book 2 or 3 nights rather than 4 as it can get costly and you will have enough time to get the around the city with a shorter break. We booked with Quest World Travel who were amazing in every sense, they will tailor your holiday to your individual needs and ensure that your time in Cuba is stress free. Enjoy!

Lets be honest, only if you are talking 5 stars for Cuba and Cuba only this is a 5 star.

This hotel is 10 minutes to all the things you want to see in Cuba, the Four Squares: Vieja, San Francisco de Assis, Plaza de Las Armas, etc. Location is unbeatable

Now that we got that cleared out, if when arriving in Cuba you put all your travel expectations behind and have an open mind, this is by far the best hotel in Cuba. The people in service in Cuba are not super friendly but they get the service done.

The rooms would have looked amazing in the 90s but they are still in ok form, bed was comfortable, shower was good and the breakfast was good too.

One thing you will quick learn, Cuba is not cheap and this hotel is super expensive in relation to prices worldwide, way below what you are paying for.

One tip, Cuba is the safest place I've ever been so you can jump into any taxi, vehicle or way of transport and you will be safe. If you dont want to pay double, avoid getting the taxis from outside, walk around the block and hail one, you guaranteed to pay half, plus you are in Cuba so get the antique old cars, this is not America after all, enjoy the experience.

Best tip, when traveling interstate, instead of getting the via azul bus (which stops for everything from picking up the driver's wife, friend, neighbor, etc. Get a taxi to the bus station and speak to the drivers there, you end up paying the price of the bus in the comfort of a car.
