Had four nights here and it's great value for money. With 25 storeys it's the tallest building in the area and offers fantastic views of the city. We were on the 16th floor and could see right across Havana including the Capitolio Nacional building in the distance and the sea.
ROOM - Modern, clean and spacious with two double beds.
FOOD - Breakfast is good - it's a buffet with lots of hot and cold options as well as fresh omlettes and eggs cooked to your liking. Avoid the 24hr snack bar which was very expensive and poor quality.
LOCATION - We spent most of our time in the main tourist area of Vieja where there are lots of shops, restaurants, bars etc. It's probably about an hours walk away so we used taxis to get there which were nearly always 5CUCs each way.
FACILITIES - We used the pool a few times which was refreshing after a long days sightseeing.
Also the cigar shop in this hotel has an excellent range and is very reasonably priced.

Room Tip: The higher the better for the views and less traffic noise

Weeding through the usual manic depressive trip advisor reviews from 4 stars to 0 stars for the tryp was nothing new... It always comes down to knowing what youre looking for in a hotel looking into those aspects and going for what suits you best... Me and a friend were looking for a Vedado or Viejo hotel with a pool and a balcony with a view... Well thats exactly what you get.... ill go over some of the highs and lows frequently mentioned...

Views are incredible... ill post some pics from our 18th floor room.. the balcony is a bit strange barely wide enough to fit a chair sideways but all we wanted was a perch to drink rum smoke cubans and take in the view.. 10/10

The breakfasts... ours was included in our ridiculously cheap rate through a previously unknown to me website skoosh.com... im not sure why but their rate for 7 nights was nearly half the price of anywhere else... 750$ for 2pp incl breakfast daily and tax... a screaming deal... anyways.. the breakfasts had everything you could possibly want juices coffee tea omeletes meats cereals etc... the morning pianist was a bit over the top loud for 8 am but manageable... 9/10

Room ... well this is where cuba's hotels star system gets them such disdain with some travelers... although very attractive with two giant queen beds and a modern flat screen tv and balcony with a dynamite view... the room was not without its flaws... the A/C was terrible on the verge of useless which we just dealt with by leaving the balcony open all night but it was an issue... the doors for the cabinets bathroom doors etc were in pretty bad repair and the bathtub was chipping its finish ... that being said the fridge worked perfectly and the maid staff were unbelievble... all in all 6-7/10

The elevators... now i only bring this up because i read review after review criticizing how slow they were... this was befuddling the first day since a trip fr the 1st -18th floor took about 8seconds... however during busy times i quickly saw a major issue and its not the fault of the hotel.... we found tourist after tourist hitting both the up and down button.. so from going up from 1st to 18th for example we would frequently stop 2-3 times going up for people going down... ive traveled quite extensively but this was a first and it proved itself time after time... the elevators are fine its the people using them!

Food.... the restaurants bars and cafe are all passable but very overpriced compared to the area around the hotel.... we found some amazing deals within blocks msg me if you want some recommendations..

Staff... .A1 helpful attentive and professional... a few bellmen did try selling me 'real' cuban cigars but its almost obligatory that everyone tries to pass off the penny cigars to obvious smokers since they can make a ton on one sale...

Cigars... quick tip to the uninitiated... ONLY buy cigars at Casa de la Habanos the official government shops one of which is in the hotel... if a price varies AT ALL from someone theyre fakes... that being said the hotel humidor had the best selection and facilities in town that we found... plenty of singles to try and two decent lounges within it to enjoy your cuban with a dram of rum....

Pool,... Great pool area the only gripe i would have is at the unexplicable 6pm closure of the pool and adjacent bar....

Overall this hotel provided exactly what we were looking for.... i might have been ticked if i had paid some of the other prices we found on the next but be dilligent in your searching and for anyone looking to book here i would highly recommend checking out skoosh.com.... we just called ahead to the hotel and made sure the reservation was actually a go no issues at all and saved a TON!

If you have any questions drop me a line... had a great week in havana and wouldnt hesitate going back again...

Room Tip: the higher up the better... and search online for better rates as i mentioned we found double room i...

Having read many reviews before we went, we were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Our rooms were clean as were the public areas - Admittedly some of the corridors were a bit ropey -but I did not intend to sleep in them. There was a much wider range of food that I expected and with an ample buffet if you did not like something there was plenty of choice. A few staff were indifferent - but we found many that were friendly and helpful. The views from the balconies we fantastic, but be aware that Havana has a thriving nightlife and the traffic is noisy at night. The photos and the history of the hotel made interesting browsing.

Room Tip: As mentioned elsewhere the higher floors have been upgraded and offer better accomodation Don't...

Very well refurbished stylish hotel about 2 km from old town and about 5 minute walk to sea front. Very good view from rooms on upper floors.
Spacious, well decorated, spotless rooms with large fully tiled ensuite facilities. Phone, non digital A/C, hair dryer, safe 2 pesos/night, large modern flat screen TV, fridge. Good breakfast served at your table.
Experience slightly marred by long queues for the lifts at times, shower not hot enough, curtains would not close or open, toilet took a long time to refill in the morning, no tables cleared when we arrived for breakfast, no Wi Fi, internet 5 pesos/30 mins but was useable speed.

Room Tip: Try to be on upper floors, 20+.

Excellent location, astonishing views but needs urgently reburbishing if they want to keep the 5th star. Take a look at the pictures attached: the minibar forniture rotten wood as well as the frame of the bathroom door.
The forniture is fifities, this should not be an inconvenient, as the vintage forniture is in fashion now, but should be well keeped.
Huge main hall with pictures of the victory of the revolution in January 1959, when Fidel Castro took control of the country ans estabilished the headquarters in this hotel, ex Hilton, symbol of the US Capitalism, the biggest Hotel in Cuba, inugurated in March 1958.
Breakfast, fine, not 5*, masses of people on the dot that forces you to wait until a table is free.
A hint: if you are in floor 17th or above you have the possibilty of having breakfast in the 22th floor dinning room, more quiet, small, intimate and breathtaking views of the city.

Room Tip: Over floor 17th so you can take breakfast in the 22nd floor

Lovely large room, clean and with great views. BUT the floor tiles around the loo were cracked and loose - not great for hygiene. The air conditioning didn't appear to work, but it wasn't that hot, so not a problem. The breakfasts were great - anything you could possibly want. We also ate in the Cuban and Polynesian restaurants - both were very good, but we were the only 2 people in the Polynesian restaurant and the Cuban one wasn't busy either.

Room Tip: The higher you go, the better the views - try and get a room overlooking the harbour.

We had a great time, the rooms were very clean and 3 double beds for the 2 of us !!.The views of the city from the 9th floor are great but maybe get a rooms on a higher floor and the views will be even better. Only down side is the windows aren't so clean. The staff were wonderful throughout and the buffet breakfasts were good with a wide choice. Just expect to queue a little as it is always busy which is a good sign. Also note that this hotel is a historic one where Castro ran the country from the 23rd floor after overthrowing Batista. Most importantly our 3 days in Havana was amazing and unforgetable and we will be going back.

Room Tip: High up to get the amazing views of Havana
