Had waited for years to come here and it is like nothing I have ever seen -it feels like gluttony trying to absorb it all - the history and architecture are absolutely amazing and all the main attractions are within easy walking distance. The renovations have been done with respect without turning Havana into a theme park.

The Havana Tour was amazing ! We had a very nice tour guide called Alex. He was brilliant, he could answer every question and showed us as much as we could fit in in a weekend.

Would definitely recommend the Havana weekend tour for the trip to club Tropicana, very good...!!

I was surprised how the reconstruction of Habana Vieja has progressed from the last year. It looks pretty cool - a lot of bar, museums, shops...

At 8:00 am on Wednesday February 12th 2014 my wife and I left the Iberostar Laguna Azul for our 2nd Sunwing Tour, the all-day Havana Especial with Tropicana Cabaret. Havana, the capital of Cuba takes two hours to get to but is a place to see if you can. The group we had was relatively small, a group of 10 persons, which turns out to be very interesting and we had a smaller bus for the ride to Havana. A photographer was also part of the group. Our guide Ross was knowledgeable, his voice was loud and clear enough to be heard by all in the group and he also spoke English, French and Spanish. We made an early stop at a rest area bar to enjoy an early morning Pina Colada. A lively band of seven Cuban singers was right on the spot singing typical Cuban songs to greet bus travellers.

At 11:00 am we arrived in Havana and we made a drive by of all landmarks, including the harbour, guarded by the 16th century El Morro Castle, we saw the Revolution Square, dominated by monuments to Cuba’s national heroes, Jose Marti and Che Guevara. We also viewed the UNESCO protected lanes in Old Havana. At 12:00pm we stopped to do lunch at Don Cangrejo Lobster Restaurant for about one hour. After lunch we also visited a rum and cigar store and you could buy if you felt like it. We also walked through the pink Hotel Ambos Mundos where writer Ernest Hemingway stayed while in Havana. The entire tour seemed very well presented, not to rushed and informative.

At about 5:30 pm after a very long day of touring we had to share two small hotel rooms to shower, change and freshen up before dinner and the show. Note that there is a dress code so everybody is required to be casual elegant. Once we arrived at the hotel where the show is, we all had a quick chicken dinner. Afterwards, we walked to the El Tropicana Night Club where we were provided with mediocre seats at our poorly organized tables. Since it had rained most of the evening the show was being presented inside the main building and not outside as usual. Everything seemed a very tight fit in order to fit in more people. Staff gave men a large cigar and women were given a red rose. Once seated to the table, staff provided a litre bottle of amber Havana Club Rum “Anejo Especial” El Ron De Cuba and 4 cans of Coke for every four people. Photographers please note that in order to take pictures inside the Cabaret, you must pay a special fee; we opted not to take pictures. While waiting, we talked and dranked then the show finally started around 10:00 pm. The salsa and feathered head-dressed show girls presented a cabaret musical that was rated as good but not exceptional. It ended around 12:00 am. If I had to compare this show to other similar shows we’ve seen I would rate it 7 out of 10. After a long drive to Varadero we got back to our hotel at approximately 2:50 am, 19 hours later.
