We had a guided tour of the old town in Havana with Pedro - a former city planner and university lecturer. We couldn't have had a better guide as he gave us all sorts of interesting facts about the old Havana, the harbour and everything else in the town.

I'd definitely recommend doing something like that as well as wandering down Calle Obispo and other street, stopping for mojito and browsing in markets.

Nice place to wonder around and take time to admire the structures; very old and magnificent. Great place to get good chocolate.

Fantastic vibrant place to be. Loved the music in this bars, the cocktails and the ambiance. The old cars were fantastic. Didn't have any trouble with people pestering us. Would love to go back. Take plenty of change for the toilets, they like tips for loo roll!

Dear people from Havanna,
I know you want to sell and make money. I think i understand your situation in your country. However: tourists come to Havanna to enjoy their HOLIDAY! This means they do NOT want to be jumped at, asked, pushed and pulled to buy cigars, taxi, food or whatever you are selling. Holiday means relaxed strolling and YES we will buy more if we are not feeling being chased!
We left Havanna earlier because of this fact. The country side is much less pushy....

Coming from Europe, we are really spoilt with beautiful old towns over here. But Habana beats them all. Vibrant 500 years of history you can feel at any corner. Stunning architectore from every century sit next to each other in the narrow streets of Habana Vieja. Parts of the Old Town are beautifully renovated and stunning. But I recommend walking the side streets - also in Habana Centro. There is nothing special to see but the decay. And how the Habaneros are forced to live in crumbling old and very wet buildings. We can only hope that they will put some restauration money into those places as well. Afterall the revolution was for the Cuban people and not for the tourists.
