“Hot hot hot”

Great weather and atmosphere. Loads to see. Love the faded beauty of the architecture. The cathedral is just lovely. Try not to get scammed. Most of the locals are so friendly and helpful but not all. See my review of Bar Franco which was a bad experience and marred our view of the visit the following day where we mistrusted everyone. Don't let that happen. Old Havana is delightful and the music is fantastic.

This as we thought of all of Havana was absolutely amazing love the old Colonial Buildings, that are gradually being done up, as Havana is now a World Heritage Site.

“Look for the Charm”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

I fell in love with Historic Havana. The architecture and various ages of the buildings is a photographer's dream. There are castles, forts, theaters, etc. that one could not find any alike. While some of the buildings are in limbo as far as renovations (there is scaffolding everywhere), in the squares you can find nice restaurants and great music and seating to people-watch. Down every alley or street there are remnants of architectural elements: tile work (mosaics), ironwork, corbels, etc. that would certainly draw any visitor back to this city. It's not just about the vintage cars which there are more than you'll ever see at a car show. The city with all it's balconies and the friendly faces are what will make you want to visit again.

“Time has stood still”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Last visited here 4 years ago and things do not appear to have changed apart from some more of the wonderful old buildings have been renovated. The people are still friendly and warm and people to seem to make to best of what they have. Yes, it can be a bit touristy in places but you only have to look down side streets and see the real way of life. Our small cruise ship was able to moor very close to the old town centre and immigration was not a problem. Changing money can be an issue if you are only there for a short period time and there do appear to be some genuine beggers but there are also people who dress up in "local" costumes and expect to paid for photographing them, it is a way of earning foreign currency.
