Beautiful home overlooking the city of Havana. See and learn things you probably never knew about this great author including his obsession with his weight which he kept track of on the bathroom walls.

Well worth a trip out to Hemingway's lovely house standing on a hill out of town with commanding views to the city. It has been well looked after with his belongings on display through the open windows and his boat, The Pilar, in the garden. I don't approve of Hemingway's hunting, shooting, fishing lifestyle but he undeniably led an interesting life.
The small gift shop in the carpark is well worth a visit. Check out the glass display cabinet. Locally designed and produced ceramics at ridiculously low prices. We got a nice plate and set of coffee cups and saucers for about £7 all up!

Near the coastal village of Cojima is the last house that Ernest Hemingway lived in while in Cuba. The house is well-preserved, with many items originally owned by Hemingway while he lived there. The style and taste provide indications of Hemingway's lifestyle, helping to stitch a richer tapestry of someone who is just a historical figure to my generation. Visiting to ponder on the lifestyle that generated The Old Man And The Sea is a worthwhile use of time if you are near enough.

And while you are there, make sure to get some sugar cane and pineapple juice from the stand in the car park; it's deliciously refreshing, especially in the heat and humidity.

I wasn't really bothered about this but it was on our tour. Really pleased it was! Very interesting look out for the writing in the bathroom by the scales, apparently Hemingway was obssesive about his weight!
