There is literally nothing here worth of note. Just another marina with zero historical significance. Do not come out of your way to visit here.

Hemingway is as much a part of Cuba as Castro and there are many places bearing his name. This was the last on my list but not what I expected. The canals are interesting but the hotel not up to much. Wouldn't return.

Recently traveled by private boat to stay at Marina Hemingway. The marina is composed of 3 or 4 long canals situated amongst a hotel and apartment rental buildings. The bulkhead had cleats to tie to, but the walkway along the bulkhead had several areas that were trip hazards with openings in the concrete where work was being done. Sad to say, there were a lot of debris and trash around the hotel buildings. The hotel pool was a short walk away. A modest restaurant was within walking distance as well - but didn't eat there. The marina does have water hookup (for a price of course). Electric may have been available, but we used a generator during our visit. There were a few shops nearby to buy limited grocery items, souvenirs, liquor, etc. We were permitted to use the hotel pool for a daily fee., but it was very crowded most days. We arranged for a tour guide/van to take us sightseeing in/around Havana during our 7-day stay, about 3 days too long.

Maybe interesting if you are a Hemming way fan, but I personally didn't much out of it and most likely due to my ignorance of his importance in literature.

We had a great misfortune to stay at this horrible place courtesy of Aeromexico as we were not allowed on an overbooked flight back to Mexico.

What was wrong:
1) waiting to be allowed in the room from 2pm until 7:30pm (and being told repeatedly over that period that the room would be ready in max 20min) against 4pm check-in
2) no towels in the room (luckily we had our own travel ones)
3) room card was not working (which meant the long trip back to the reception and yet more wait)
4) deserted, scary, ugly hotel buildings
5) the beach so dirty that no one sane would ever go in the water there
6) 'beauty salon'... at your own risk. I have never seen anything quite like that and I grew up in a communist country. Under no circumstances should you try to have your nails done there
7) overall non-existent service (not sure they grab the concept there yet)
8) food that looked like it was there on display for the last week (although we didn't have any poisoning must be admitted)
What was fine:
1) really clean room and sheets (highly surprisingly)
2) ping pong table

If you stay there, you're either after an unforgettable experience or desperate like us. NEVER EVER pick it out of your own will otherwise.

I visited there to play a little with my grand children. Carpet dirty, with food all around the seats. restrooms were dirty. Computer was unadjusted.
Only (4 lines) to play.

Built in the '50's, still beautiful from a distance, but major maintenance issues like NO toilet seats in bath house, few working showers, run down hotel, only 3 limited menu restaurants, no fresh groceries, and no ATM's or banks to get Cuc's (Cuba currency), within walking distance!

Be prepared to take the taxi (take only Cuc's) to get anywhere.

The staff is excellent, but way underfunded.
