“Not for us”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

Despite a real interest in the history and life of Cuba this was not the place for this for me. The displays lack creativity and communicate poorly. Many of the war pictograms layout the troop movements poorly explained and boring, there's a pair of Castro's pants, a number of pistols, nothing to hold your attention. By the time I got to New Cuba I was done. There is no pride reflected in this important museum, dirty, dusty, Grade 6 level display skills. They should have employed the staff of the Fine Arts Museum beside it to make this worth the time and money. Even the famous Granma guarded display has dirty grimy glass panes. Where is the pride?

The only interesting items were the bullet holes in the marble staircase from the failed assassination attempt on Batista.

I learned much more about Cuba in the heavy internet reading I did on my return. Skip this.

“One for the enthusiasts”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

Not the most riveting or graphic of museum experiences, this is one for those who are enthusiastic to know more about the Cuban revolution and who have the time and commitment to read lots of documents and labels in Spanish and -often bad - English. I really enjoyed finding out the real story behind the iconic characters of the revolution such as Che Guevara and Fidel Castro though and to learn more about the origins and progress of the struggle against colonialists and US puppet governments.

Reviewed April 15, 2014

Excellent museum giving very detailed account of the revolution - before, during and after - with some fascinating artefacts. And the preserved vehicles were amazing, especially the Granma! Definite top visit to makes when in Havana!

“If you want to understand Cuba, this is the place”
Reviewed April 9, 2014

The whole Cuban history in an historical building....If you want to understand Cuba and the Revolution in detail, this is the place to spend 3 to 4 hours. Sometimes there are so many details that it is outside a foreign guy capability, with that old Soviet fascination for numbers, objectives, tasks and organizational charts...

“Gave an insight”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

Beautiful building and the exhibition gave an insight into the revolution. Most of the explanations were in Spanish though and after a while it all became a bit samey. The outside vehicle exhibits with their evocative bullet holes giving some feeling of the turbulent times back in the 1950's. Reasonable priced and worth a visit. There were two tanks there one in front of the building and one in the square with the other vehicles, both claimed to be the tank used by Castro at the Bay of Pigs??
