“Great beach at the end but the road is horrible.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

Great beach at the end of the road but the road itself is horrible and needs some repair. Yes, it is a dirt road but full of potholes and rocks, so if you don't mind bouncing for 1 1/2 hours (short road) or 2 1/2 hours (long road) then good luck. The beach at the end is wonderful but painful to get too. We did have a pick up or would have been worse. $25.00 entry fee per person also too high. Free if you purchased a marine park pass for $25.00 already. Bring picture ID!

“worth the trip!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2014

drive north from Rincon to the park, and just at the entrance there is a museum. Not big or fancy but nicely set up. A small building (converted from old plantation house) holds displays of the island’s flora and fauna, including quite a number of birds, and skeletons of a flamingo and an iguana. Other rooms cover varied topics - geologic timelines and pictographs explaining the island’s formation, samples of salt and lime, Captain Don’s original dive gear, and instructions on how to build a cactus fence. Outside, there is a skeleton of a whale, and a display of planation life with artifacts like an aloe oven and the ruins of buildings made from coral skeletons. Allow about an hour to wander through both the inside and outside displays.
