My 11YO loves to fish. We decided to get him a fishing experience with Bonaire Big Game Fishing as his Christmas present. I contacted Yuri several months in advance via email and after many emails back and forth, I finally booked a 6 hour private charter for our last full day on Bonaire. I was very nervous since this was a big present AND for an 11 YO, this trip had to be the "BEST EVER!" All Yuri knew was that this was my son's Christmas present and he loved to fish.
We arrived at the dock at 5:45 and from the moment we met Captain Yuri and the Best Mate Ever...Fabian, we knew it was going to be a great day...even if we didn't catch anything. We started out fishing for live bait which my son and daughter really enjoyed and if that was all we did for 6 hours, I know my son would have been loved the experience. Fabian was amazing to watch as he fished and then got all the lines ready. He took care to make sure the boat was continuously cleaned and we were safe. He was always explaining things to us and his knowledge was top notch. It was not long before we not only had one fish on but two at the same time. This happened several times during our trip.
Capt. Yuri offered us a large variety of beverages, the best Oliebollen (which is a New Year tradition) and sandwiches which we passed on since we knew we had lunch already caught. We loved listening to him explain things about the island and stories about native fishermen we had passed along the way.
The day went fast and the time in between fish allowed the kids to rest up and get ready to reel in the next one. Our final catch was 3 Mahi Mahi, 1 Wahoo and several barracuda that were thrown back in.
Back at shore, we were planning to take some fish back to our house to cook it. Yuri recommended having it cooked at It Rains Fishes. We decided to go ahead with this option to alleviate the mess at the house, convenient and reasonably priced. My son was so excited and proud to have caught our lunch. I highly recommend this option.
Our only regret is that we did not book this adventure earlier in the week so that we could have gone on another fishing adventure.
The equipment was very well care for and everything was in working order. We did not have one issue with this trip and it was perfect!!

Went deep sea fishing with Yuri and Fabian on the Fishtales - we were virgins to the whole experience. Fabian was a joy to watch - he was a tornado of activity - teaching us about all the lines, and hooks, and bait and how to whack the fishes. Our 16-year old fought with a 38 lbs wahoo and won, and our 18-year old really had a fesity melee with a 32 lbs mahi mahi. A few little black fin tunas met their maker - and were used for bait to catch one last mahi mahi. Thanks for a great experience!

A friend and I booked this charter expecting our women to go with us. When they decided not to go my buddy and I decided there was no way we would miss this trip and I was not disappointed in the least.

I have sport-fished all over the Southeastern US and Carribean Islands nad I have experienced both good and bad charter operations. This one is a first class, Excellent Charter.

The boat is immaculate for a sportfishing charter. It has plenty of room for four anglers plus the crew and appears lovingly maintained.

Fabian, the Mate, is by far the "Saltiest" hand I have ever seen and I must say it was an absolute pleasure watching this hard-working man in action. It is amazing to see a man doing what he was obviously born to do, for a living!

The fish weren't cooperating on our trip so we took that time to discuss the beautiful coastline and the features we saw as we trolled along the North Western coastline. To be honest I appreciated that almost as much as the fishing because we got a unique view of Bonaire, and unique information about life on Bonaire we would not have gotten otherwise.

I will return to Bonaire, and I will fish with Yuri and Fabian on the Fishtales again, and I encourage anyone with the opportunity to do the same- you will not regret it.
