“Angels dancing on my tongue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2013 via mobile

After reading the reviews, we saved this small, intimate restaurant for what we hoped would be a very special meal for our final dinner of a 17 day stay on the island. Not only were we not disappointed, we were absolutely blown away! The service was wonderfully attentive, friendly, gracious, and perfectly timed. The presentation was a work of art. Each preparation--from the complimentary starters to the appetizers, entrees, and dessert--was a labor of love, for nothing else could possibly explain the exquisite flavors we experienced throughout. This is true French cuisine at its best, even to the point of a wine list that is 100% French; no US, South American, or South African wines. And in the great scheme of things, the French still do it best. If you can visit only one fine dining restaurant while on Bonaire, this one is a must. It puts Bistro de Paris to shame.

“The pearl of Bonaire!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013

Chez Madeleine is a cozy, romantic restaurant with excellent food and well priced. Renowned Belgium chef Jean Buyens makes art on a plate with fresh products. The combinations that he creates are a subject that you'll be talking about weeks after you've eaten there. Can't wait to visit Bonaire's pearl again!

“Classic French Cuisine & Impeccable Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013 via mobile

Madeleine and her husband offer that rarity: great French food with perfect service in their tiny (5 tables) intimate location. Food is classic French with island flair, such as magret de canard and cote d'agneau, fish includes barracuda and wahoo, porc, etc. She speaks at least four languages (French, Spanish, Dutch, English) manages the front of the house by herself with ease, and is completely charming and authentic. He has the knack of classic skill with sauce and perfect vegetables. The opportunity for development would be deserts, which are a bit too traditional for our taste - more bavarois, more fruit favors, more charlottes, more gateaux please. Figure $50-65 plus drinks for 3 courses. Reservations indispensable in season! Lovely romantic setting on the main beach road with plenty of parking, quiet, garden setting. Top rate!

“If you can find it you will love it.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2013

Another superior place to eat in Bonaire. But it is a bit hard to find. At night it is easy to miss the sign on the wall and end up thinking you are walking into someone's room. The setting has very limited seating so I recommend getting a reservation. It is worth the trouble of trying to find the place. Food and service are great.
