Through our dive group we signed up for two unforgettable events with Flow - the Fluo night dive and the Cave tour. Flow is easy to find just north of Buddy Dive and Capt. Don's Habitat, right off the main road there - they share a building with BonPhoto.
First, the Fluo night dive - outstanding, very unique experience! After a briefing that includes how to with the equipment and pictures of what we'll see as well as a talk about the animals that will and won't flourece we geared up for the most unique dive I've ever done (I've got 300+ total). Using a special fluorescent light and a yellow mask filter our group of six headed out. We were each armed with a light and WOW the things it picks up and the animals you see that you'd have completely missed using normal light were STUNNING! Anemone, sharptail eels, certain corals and other critters all fluoresce in bright yellows, oranges, blues, reds. It was an hour underwater that I won't forget - unfortunately, pictures and gopro's don't work! Leo was a great guide!
The other thing we did with them was a cave tour with David. This was an unexpected treat - I never thought there were such amazing caves on the island! The first one we visited was dry but the formations, columns and "cave bacon" were beautiful and dare I say it - amazing! These formed over hundreds of thousands of years and David explained everything, he's clearly very knowledgeable about the caves. There were some slippery spots and tight passages that you kind of had to crab crawl through almost on your knees and we did see a few bats, but it's a cave, that's expected! The second cave was wet. Unlike other cave exploring operations who only offer a rope to aid the climb in and out, David had a climbing ladder and rope with him to make it easier. On top of that he explained the route in and out, he then demonstrated an coached the whole way. All in all a very easy entry / exit given what we were getting into! Inside the second cave was as spectacular as the first. David swam back into the caves illuminating underwater parts we otherwise wouldn't have seen. He was a great guide!
Overall these were two wonderful adventures. Leo and David's passion for the island, for fun and for adventure were clearly evident. HIGHLY recommend seeking these guys out on your next trip to Bonaire - you won't regret it!
