“Easy access and varied fish life”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2014

You can access this reef from the public (and tiny) Spice Beach next to the Eden Beach resort or from the Sand Dollar condominiums via a staircase from the sun deck. I liked the ease of access as well as the fish - especially in the submerged dock near Spice Beach now known as the "aquarium". It now forms a lovely artificial reef that has lots of fish. We snorkelled from Sand Dollar to Captain Don's (be careful of the dive boat traffic) to see the large silver tarpons that live at Captain Don's. There are some reports of aggressive eels as they are being fed the remains of lion fish along this stretch - give them some space and enjoy looking for them hiding in the concrete "reef balls" or under coral shelves.

“Great but limited Snorkel experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014

The most amazing thing about Bonaire is how seemingly mundane locations can have great snorkeling and diving. The "beach", if you can even call it that, is off a traffic rotary and next to a dirt parking lot. Not very impressive, until you jump in next to the broken-down concrete pier that juts out in the water, and suddenly you're in this wonderland of fish in and around the pier. A great snorkel experience right there, the rest of the beach is OK, with a nice selection of marine life for being so close to shore. I can't speak to Bari Reef itself, since I'm not a diver, but if the entrance lobby is any indication, it should be great.

“Not to be missed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014

We would rate Bari as one of the top three sites on the island, next to or including 'Something Special' (a boat dive nearby), and Salt Pier. Not to be missed, one of the most accessible shore dives, and a rewarding experience in terms of what you'll see. Hard to spot the yellow marker stones, but that's in part because you don't expect to look for them at one of the exits to a round-about.

Great diving, as are almost all dives on Bonaire! Awesome coral formations, great sea life, shore dive with a short swim to the reef. A very relaxed dive atmosphere on Bonaire!!
