We rented two villa's at Hamlet Oasis Resort. We rented waterfront villa 9 & 10. Villa number 8 was under construction during our stay....so we got to enjoy jack hammering all day. We also had to chase construction behicles out of our parking spots each day. I expect that the construction will be going on for 6 more months based upon what I saw.

We had rented villa 9 the year prior. Compared to villa 10, villa 9 is a bit run down. Villa 10 has been recently remodeled and was in excellent condition. The kitchen was especially well done and had two refridgerators.....great for our large party. The diving in front of bth villas is great. Make your entry on the sandy beach several villas to the left side of villa 9 & 10.

The one thing you need to watch out for are the dangerous Yucca shrubs that encroach into the pathways areas associated with the house. These are unkempt, poorly maintained, and overgrown to the point that they could cause a serious eye injury. One of our party almost poked his eye out...and several of us were jabbed by these nasty and dangerous plants. It would be easy to pack a pair of garden shears and simply snip off the points whwn you arrive. I will pack some shears if we rent this property again. The villa is within walking distance to several bars and restaurants....a very nice convenience. Dive Friends is the best place get your tanks and gear, very friendly people,...plus they will give you a 10% discount if you are staying at Hamlett Oasis.

This was our first holiday to Bonaire and we were in for a surpise.
The island is lovely! You can do whatever you want. Diving, snorkeling, surfing, visit a national park, go for a kayak in the mangrove and off course have nice evenings out enjoying a good meal.

We booked Hamlet oasis for two weeks because we like the freedom of an appartment. So this place is really for the self sufficient.
We booked the two rooms appartment, this was the best thing we could have ever done because it really is so much bigger than the studio. With a two room appartment you also get a large terrace with seats and a bed to lay down in the sun. So if you want the privacy and the big terrace go for a two room appartment! It also has a spacious kitchen and plenty of room. There is airconditioning in your bedroom and you will need it ;-)

Hamlet oasis is a relaxed place. Although the park was fully booked it wasn't busy at all.
It has a small swimming pool were you can relax lying on a bed and do nothing, or have a refreshing swim. With or without an Iguana! They are very friendly walking around in the park, and sometimes they dive in the pool for some cooling down!
Very near the appartments you will find their house reef Cliff. There is a dive base there from dive friends Bonaire. An excellent organisation. They are very helpfull and they can arrange almost anything when it comes down to diving. The dive site offers some cool diving. Cliff has the steepest coral wall on the island and it offers some great macro photo oppertunities.
Cliff is also a perfect site for snorkeling, the reef is also shallow here, so you will see a lot! Huge tarpons, murray eels, scorpion fish...and there are rumours about a house reef turtle but when I was there the turtle was on holiday ;-)

One thing we learned fast in Bonaire is RENT A CAR! ( or scoorter, if you are not diving )
You can get around walking to the center of Krallendijk, but with the heat is is a big no no!
You need a car if you go to Hamlet, for your groceries or for going out to dinner or for your dives.

There is a supermarket near Hamlet oasis ( Zung Kong ) it has a lot of things but it is all canned or frozen, so your choice is limited. If you only want some small things like breakfast or some beers, it is a fine supermarkt, but their selection of fresh products is very limited. They also have a bank machine, so get your cash nearby.

In Krallendijke you will find some big supermarkets and they have a huge selections of fresh products.
Van Tweel is the biggest one...and it actually is an Abert Heijn...Only more friendly ;-) They even have a coffee corner and they serve fresh coffee and pastry for men who are tired of waiting on their wives buying groceries ;-)

Near Hamlet oasis you will find restaurant Rum Runners. It is a resort restaurant and it belongs to Captain Don's habitat.
It is great to have a meal there. They have one of the nicest sea side views you will ever see.
Their bar serves the best cocktails on the island. It is always busy at Rum Runners, you can walk there from Hamlet, it is just 5 minutes away. Be carefull when you walk the short cut by the sea...it is a long way down if you fall.
This place has the best pizza's in Bonaire, you can also buy them and take them with you to your Hamlet appartment.

We were here for two weeks, so obviously we were not planning on eating here every night.
Rent a car or scooter and go to Krallendijke.
-Joe's grillhouse
-4 seasons
-It rains fishes
There are so many good restaurants it is hard to make a choice.

Hamlet Oasis has a very helpfull and friendly manager, she can arrange most things for you, she makes reservations and she is always helpfull to answer your questions.
The office is only open in the morning, so don't bother going there late.

So, next to diving...what else?
-Lac Bay for some cool surfing and chill, chill, chill on the beds on the white sandy beach.
-Lac Cai offers a kayak tour with snorkeling in the mangrove forest, an excellent trip we liked very much.
-National Park Washington Slagbaai. Bring your snorkel and take the long route, it is very very impressing. ( if you payed your diving fee, entrance is for free )
-Karel's bar for weekend action, dancing the night away with all kind of nationalities. So much fun!
-Bring a lot of sunscreen or a tshirt for snorkeling. The bigges danger in Bonaire is the sun
-Bring watershoes or diving booties for snorkeling.
-Buy a lot of anti mosquito lotion with DEET, at night these little buggers will eat you alive!

Enjoy Bonaire, enjoy Hamlet oasis...you will love it here. We are coming back for more!

Being in the caribbean is really a holiday you choose for sun, warmth, sea, diving, snorkelling, swimming, relaxing... well not really at the Hamlet Oasis Resort.
A (at first glance friendly) looking cock is wandering the resort during the daytime. How lovely to find animals at large, you think.... until the first night when you wake up at 3:19 AM when that friendly cock is showing his other side by screaming his cookeridoo loudly and proudly throughout the rest of the night. And he showed his (dis)respect by repeating this pattern every night for the entire vacation.
It was probably a nice place to stay, but all I remember is waking up freaking early every morning because that freaking cock could not keep his mouth shut.
Thanks, but no thanks, I go somewhere else next time for my relaxation.

Nice rooms (new construction), well stocked with dishes/ utensils/ pans, lots of ants through out the 2 Br. unit. We were there to dive & had boat call @ 8:30am. The office "hours" @ H.O. Are 8:30 am - 10:30am! Don't expect much! Housekeeping is very nice & considerate. The ladies only speak Spanish, but make every effort to fix any issue.

I have stayed at this place numerous times. The studio is nice and clean and fully air conditioned. the ceiling fan works very well and some nights you don't need the AC. It has a small kitchen where you can cook your own food that you purchase from the Chinese grocery store across the street. The swimming pool is a bit small but well maintained. Staff is pleasant and helpful. You get free wifi. Just make sure you get a villa close to the office in order to get good reception. For a single diver, the cost of a studio is about a third of what I would have to pay at Buddy Dive with the single supplement. I stay at hamlet and dive at Buddy's. There are restaurants at Captain Dons and Buddy Dive.

Room Tip: Pick one close to the office to get good free wifi. If you pick a one bedroom apartment, be aware that only the bedroom has AC. So the living room can get pretty hot in the summer months.
