“Close to great but stop manipulation”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

The setting is excellent as 40% of the tables are open air (check the weather forecast!), the food is also very good. The one annoyance and it seemed even more pronounced this year than last is that you are shepherded to bar on the pretext that your table is not yet ready. This is solely done - our table was sitting there ready as was 30% of the other tables - to get you to buy more booze. We resent that blatant manipulation and probably would have spent more on drinks had we been settled at our table immediately. It creates a negative impression on what would have been a 100% excellent experience.

Dear Alan E,
Firstly we are very glad that you, apart from your complaint, would have had a 100% excellent experience. We are sorry that you feel that asking you to wait at the bar was in any way a "manipulation", let me assure you it is not. It has been showering off and on most evenings lately and, as you quite rightly point out, much of our dining is outdoors. Rather than move tables inside, we prefer to leave them outside whenever humanly possible. It's often the case that if we are a) wiping the tables are dry or b) waiting to make sure the rain isn't going to start up again, then we ask people to wait at the bar rather than leaving anyone standing uncomfortably by the entrance. I can assure you that there is no policy in place at Café Luna to force people to buy drinks, nor would we ever try to manipulate our patrons. We would gladly serve you a glass of water if that was your preference, your presence at the bar was not contingent on your buying extra drinks, it is to make you comfortable. People are more than welcome to be there without a drink in hand if, for any reason, there's a delay in seating you at your table.

“This is the "Magic Spot" on the island!”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

I have been travelling to Barbados for years, and this is definitely one of, if not the best restaurants on the island. The food is amazing, be sure to try Sushi night if it is on when you visit. On top of the food the atmosphere is fun and light and the view of the nite sky while dining is an experience you will not soon forget. I would give it a 6th star if there was one :) Be sure to try it, you will definitely be back again if you do.

“Not to be Missed”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

Enjoyed this place so much that my wife and I ate here twice. We didn't stay at the hotel (though it does have quite a beautiful setting), but got top notch service. Little pricey, but not for what it is - great service, generous drinks, very well prepared food.

The hotel booked this restaurant for us. Very nice location, quite small , and because it was the day after Christmas , a very limited menu. Great food though , waiting staff were good and the owner came round a couple of times making sure everything was OK. Would recommend this restaurant.

“Shoveling Snow, Dreaming Of Cafe Luna”
Reviewed January 3, 2014

We always finish our annual trip to Barbados with an incredible meal at Cafe Luna. Instead of feeling sad with our trip ending, Chef Moo and his incredible food never fail to send us back to the states with a smile on our faces!! After spending time exploring the menu, you are able to sense the time and love that Chef Moo has invested into even the descriptions of each dish. The staff is always warm and welcoming, and the decor and warm feeling of the space cannot be beat. On our last visit we were delighted to see that Chef Moo was out working the front of the house, and this led to a lovely conversation about food, life, and Barbados. I highly recommend ordering many of the options "tapas style", to fully experience the depth and quality of the food on the menu. 12 weeks and counting till we see you again Chef Moo, my son is hoping to run into you surfing this year!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL THE TRIP ADVISOR MEMBERS THANKS FOR ALL YOUR TIPS IN 2013
