“Wonderful”
Reviewed January 26, 2010

We booked Little Arches to get away from the cold and dark weather in northern Europe at this time of the year, and to celebrate our honeymoon (even though the marriage was last summer). We were truly satisfied - the hotel exceeded our (high) expectations. From the first minute we arrived at the hotel everyone from the staff was constantly doing everything in their powers to make our stay delightful - and sure did they succeed. The property is small and very intimate - which was exactly what we wanted. It sometimes felt like being a guest in someones home, someone who REALLY loved to have you there. The fact that the staff hangs out with the guests at the cocktail evenings at wednesdays strengthened this feeling. The rooms are stylish, cute and spotlessly taken care of. The hotel for sure has a feeling of luxury, but without the "snobby" and negative side of it - rather just the natural feeling of relaxation.

The restaurant upstairs (Café Luna) serves delicious international dishes with a caribbean touch added to them. Also look out for the sushi-evenings where creative and caribbean flavoured sushi is served at in our opinion very reasonable prices. The pool was also wonderful. Sure, smaller than the regular hotel-pool, but was never even near being crowded and only strengthened the intimate feeling. Being by the pool accompanied by a drink from the Café Luna upstairs and a good book really made our afternoons :).

About one minute from the hotel lies a very beautiful beach where many locals hang out (which is usually a good sign). Another five minutes walk and you'll reach the fishing-village of Oistins, which in our opinion was one of the most interesting villages we visited during our stay on Barbados. Be sure to hang out there on fridays as there is the fish-fry party with good local music and delicious food at a ridiculously low price.

It might not be the hotel for those looking to party all night long and then have their hotel just a stone's throw away though, nor for those looking for all the "convenience" of a bigger hotel with private beaches and multiple in-house restaurant choices. But for ALL the others we would without doubt recommend Little Arches, especially for those looking for a romantic and/or relaxing getaway. And on the other hand a taxi to for example the Gap costs about 15 USD, so going there for dinner or some nightlife was never a problem either.

We don't usually go back to places where we've been, since there are still so many new places to visit, things to see, do and explore. But after being at Little Arches we might have to do an exception from that "policy"...

Just spent 6 glorious days on honeymoon at Little Arches. The staff were out of this world in terms of friendliness and willingness to help with reservations and bookings. The rooms are quaintly named but comfortable - one caveat - beware of room 6, it is booked as ocean view but actually leads out directly onto the pool with zero ocean view. We were moved to another room after two days which had a fantastic ocean view so no room for complaint really. The restaurant has amazing food and the view cannot be beat. Certainly one of the best hotel choices I have ever made and conveniently located as well.

We recently spent 10 wonderful days at Little Arches and can't wait to return. Friends had referred us to this location and we quickly fell in love with everyone and everything there. To our surprise, and pleasure, the pictures on their website actually do tell the story - everything is exactly as you see it, or better. From our arrival to departure, the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The front desk staff: Sandra, Cherisse, Emma and Soma were so helpful whether helping us to plan a day trip, order taxi service or simply making sure that ice water and towels were plentiful around the pool. Our room was on the upper level looking out on the pool and ocean. It was beautifully decorated with every comfort anticipated. The rooms and grounds at Little Arches are kept spotless at all times. Special thanks to Rose in Housekeeping - you are a treasure! We ate most of our meals at Cafe Luna, their rooftop restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff are friendly as well as efficient - special thanks to Johnny! Our only regret is that we ran out of time to sample everything on the menu. The hotel is small, private and cozy, but, so close to any and all nightlife that you might desire. We enjoyed our strolls to the village of Oistins and the Friday Night Fish Fry there. At the end of our stay, we came away totally relaxed, rested and with a definite plan to return as soon as possible.

Everyone gets a limited amount of vacation time so we all know how important it is to plan your trip wisely. I never traveled to the same hotel more than once - until I stayed at Little Arches. Little Arches is about a 10 minute taxi ride ($15 USD) from BGI. The hotel itself is simply beautiful. Picture a gorgeous Mediterrean style hotel situated across the street from an unbelievable white sand beach. The hotel itself is private, romantic and cozy. The rooms are large and very comfortable. Tastefully decorated with Judith Jackson soaps, shower gels and shampoos. The rooms and grounds are kept spotless. Enterprise Beach is a three minute walk away. The hotel provides towels and beach chairs (they will bring them to and from). Crystal clear water that is separated by a small jetty. Small waves on one side and total calm on the other. Lifeguards are on duty and there is a snack bus that sells local fare. The restaraunt at Little Arches, Cafe Luna, lead by super chef Moo, serves truly inventive Caribbean dishes that are unbelievably delicious. The restaraunt is located on the roof of the hotel and overlooks the sea. Very romantic. Great food - great wine list and even better service. The hotel is situated in a quiet location but there is plenty of nightlife only a 10 minute taxi ride away. Believe it or not there is a great Irish pub, McBrides, that has something going on every night of the week till all hours of the morning. Barbados is a great place to visit with a million and one things to see and do. And the Bajan people will open their arms and island to you in an instant. You will not find a friendlier people on the planet. In sum, Little Arches is a great place to go to relax and get pampered. A beautiful hotel in a great location with everything you could ever ask for. You do what you want, when you want, at your pace. I go to destress and to remind myself that there are more important things in life than just work and also to remind myself what a beautiful place our world can be. AND, this place is staffed by the best in the world - bar none. I have been to The Four Seasons and Ritz Carltons - they do not even come close. Sandra, the hotels manager, leads a staff that is warm, professional, genuinely friendly and always willing to go out of their way for you to make sure that your stay is a memorable one. You'll feel like family. Kudos to Soma, Cherrise and Emma. And kudos again to Rose and her staff - it is amazing how well they keep your room. I try not to think about Little Arches too often, because the more I do, the more I miss it.

My husband and I just returned from spending a week at the Little Arches. It was a wonderful spot. You have the feeling that you are staying at a private villa in the Medditeranean. The view of the ocean from the pool and the outdoor "living room" is spectactular. I am an interior designer and probably pickier than most with respect to decor and the hotel exceeded my expectations. The rooms are nicely appointed and very comfortable and many have views of the ocean. The lunch options are extremely reasonably priced compared to the pricier hotels on the west side of the island so you don't feel like you have to leave the hotel. The restaurant is exceptional for dinner we only wished that we had dined their more frequently during our stay since the restaurant was much better than the others that we went to on the island. Soma, Cherrise and Emma at the front desk are exceptional and truly make you feel pampered. You won't go wrong by choosing this as your place to stay on the island. We had stayed at the Sandpiper two years previous and much prefer the Little Arches for atmosphere and value.

My husband chose the Little Arches Hotel based on the review in Fodor's guide. I couldn't agree more with his choice. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed. The rooms were beautiful and spacious, with wonderful patios and views. The restaurant was top notch, again with a staff that exceeded all expectations. When we asked for permission to stay and play cards at the restaurant after closing time, we were told "This is your home". (Thanks, Johnny).

We didn't rent a car, but the hotel has a couple of taxi drivers on call for the guests, and all of the excursions (which the hotel staff booked for us) came with shuttle service that picked us up at the hotel. We stayed for 7 days and did everything from borrowing the hotel's tandem bicycle for a 10 mile ride to the catamaran snorkeling adventure, to zip-lining and SCUBA.

We were truly made to feel at home during our stay. I feel like I made friends here and can't wait to return.

We spent a couple of weeks at Little Arches and thought it was wonderful. The staff are exceptionally helpful. The rooms (we stayed in 2 different ones) are clean and spacious. We liked the fact that the hotel is not in a big tourist area, but tucked away a bit. The beach just over the road is delightful, although sometimes a little too rough for swimming. If you want a romantic relaxing break this is the place. We hired a car from the hotel for 3 days. Barbados is small enough that you can get around an see lots of things easily on your own. We also used the local buses, which a good fun and very cheap.
