Sushi is the focus and it is done well by an experienced chef.
Staff are attentive and willing to please.
Success will depend on ability to differentiate in a crowded quality restaurant environment on the buzzy south coast boardwalk.
Must deliver a "need to come again" experience to succeed.

WE went to NaRu twice while visiting Barbados. The food is unbelievably great particularly the sushi! The staff, especially Richard in the bar was amazing. Funny, quick and gave us many tips on things to do on the island. Eat on the deck if you can, right on the ocean, beautiful views!

Naru came recommended to us by residents as a great relatively new place to get sushi in Barbados. Definitely make reservations here, because they book full--certainly as a great new restaurant during the tourist season. The ambiance is a great mix of eastern meets caribbean with a waterfront outdoor kitchen/courtyard feel. The sushi and nagiri flavor and presentation was superb (from a chef experienced in Japan and Dubai)--as was everything else streaming out of the kitchen. While the wait staff were understandably working through some kinks and holiday short-manning, management is exceptionally attentive and accommodating, and the owner/operator Lisa is engaging and delightful. Highly recommended for any fish/fusion lovers, and certainly capable of offering a family friendly or elegant dining experience since tables are well-spaced.

We went with a group of 9 people and there was also a VERY large party on the patio. We did have to wait for our food but they brought out some crispy won tons to help tide us over. I got the sweet potato and plantain soup and it was the best soup I've had in ages. Our table did some sharing (small plates style dining). The duck spring rolls were wonderful too. The best part of the evening was the dessert. We shared the doughnuts with cinnamon and then trio of banana desserts. The bananas were to die for. If I wasn't leaving the island today I would go back again :)

We just got done eating at Naru and had a wonderful meal. It was a bit pricey but the staff was very attentive and the food was excellent. The wild mushroom risotto was incredible! We were able to get in last minute, which was also a plus.
