although not as impressive as some of the big 5 star hotels we passed on the way in , the beach club ticks all the boxes , sat right on a super beach , walking distance to the two adjacent towns , st lawrence gap , and oistens
the staff were perfect, the whole place was clean and tidy, all in all a great place to stay

Room Tip: sea view is a must

We stayed at the BBC for 12 nights at end of March,( before the Easter rush ). There were 7 of us - my husband and I, our 3 grown up children and our 2 sons- in law. We had a wonderful time. I had been a little worried by the negative reviews and so was pleasantly surprised to find the hotel was just as we had hoped it would be - not too fancy - but with everything there that we needed. The rooms were spacious and clean and we never had any problems with lack of hot water or malfunctioning toilets. I can see, perhaps, why to people coming from a cruise with wonderful buffets etc, the food might seem a little disappointing but this was a 3 star hotel and we certainly never had any problems finding enough tasty food to eat at each meal. We especially liked the afternoon tea with it's delicately cut sandwiches and small cakes which became a daily ritual and stopped us buying crisps/ other snacks to nibble in between lunch and dinner! We found the restaurant staff very friendly and polite. Also - we never really had any problems with the bar. On the odd occasion, there was maybe a 5 minute wait, but most of the time service was quick and efficient. We have been in many higher grade hotels where the service has been considerably slower. The proximity of the small, sandy beach was great and the staff on the beach were excellent. The provision of beach towels required no deposit - you simply signed for them and could change them whenever you wanted. We weren't unduly bothered by beach vendors - a few a day came along but if you said "no" they never persisted which is not the experience we have had elsewhwere in Barbados and other islands. The only slight downside of that area of coastline ( not the hotel's fault ) is that the sea is pretty rough - fun for adults but probably not so good for young children. I would say, generally, the hotel is not particularly child friendly - no play park etc
Only negative points: the colour scheme round the hotel could perhaps be brightened up a bit, and I suspect a start has already been made. Also, the a la carte restaurant is far too hot - the windows were open but the room would really benefit from air con. It would also improve appearances if the area where Sea rocks used to be could be tidied up.
All in all, though, an excellent, laid back holiday in a family run 3 star hotel which suited us fine!

Room Tip: We were on the third floor overlooking the pool - this was fine. Entertainment stopped at midnight so no problems sleeping. Two of our party were in a third floor corner room with beautiful views over beach . Slight downside was the noise of the pounding waves at night!

Like previous guests, we stayed here from the 15th April after a wonderful week aboard the Thomson Dream. Everything about the cruise was tremendous and we were looking forward to a relaxing week at the supposed three star Barbados Beach Club. What a bitter disappointment it was. Firstly let me say that our room (321) was very good, big and spacious with good view over the pool area etc but the shower was very tempramental indeed. Now for the rest of it. Food was terrible for most of our stay with perhaps the breakfast being the best meal of the day. (cant go wrong with eggs). I have never been to a buffet where there was no cold meat on offer and only one choice of desert. Even the method of keeping food warm was strange, with a bunsen burner type arrangement. Evening meal was from 7 - 10pm and they had run out of some items by 7.30. We were supposed to have a glass of wine with our meal but only once during our stay was this offered. The method of seating people was also ridiculous and at times we were kept waiting until they set up more tables. We cannot comment on the "speciality restuarant" as we were told the day after we arrived that it was fully booked for the week. There was only one bar in the whole hotel and it was obvious that most of the staff wanted to be somewhere else most of the time. Service was very slow and slower still when they were texting. I do appreciate that making cocktails can be time consuming, so why have only one person serving most of the time. Restuarant staff were polite but what a difference a smile would have made. One elderly lady asked the bar man for two drinks and a smile and he simpy stared at her, then slid her drinks along the bar. Shocking example of bad manners. Even the duty mangager, whilst polite, was like the Rev. I. Am Jolly. This hotel is in a great location and has so much potential. I hope that Thomsons reconsider booking cruise guests into the Barbado Beach Club as it spoiled what was otherwise a wonderful stay in Barbados.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel.

I appreciate it is a 3* but still expected more. no welcome on arrival. lift out of order, rooms very basic, that's O.K. but bathroom very grubby. our group overlooked car park and roofing. the only couple that had a good room was the couple who they didn't have their names on list, so
had to wait. Cleanliness of food area not good, tea / coffee undrinkable. beach bar grubby all drinks were in plain bottles with contents celotaped on? Staff were nice but we paid to move elsewhere the following day as did 20+ others. we were there 1st April. after all those complaints maybe they have improved. I hope so. I know the saying is you can't please some people but if you pay a lot of hard earned money, which we did, then you expect what the brochure states.
