“Fantastic way to end out holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

We had decided not to eat at The Cliff as we felt it was very expensive in comparison to other restaurants, not just in Barbados but in London, where you could get a 5/6 course taster menu in a michelin starred restaurant for around the same price. However, another couple at our hotel asked us if we would like to join them on our last night so we went for it.
The first thing that is impressive is the setting. We enjoyed some cocktails upstairs before eating, It was very hot but the cocktails were delicious.
We were shown to our table which had a great view of the beach and we could see the rays swimming around below us. I found there were plenty of choices on the menu and we all agreed the food was delicious.
Was it the best meal I have ever eaten...no. It was good and perhaps the best meal we'd had in Barbados ,but the setting cannot fail to add to the experience and that's what made it worth it.
It's a unique experience and I'm really pleased we splashed out and did it.

“Most expensive in Barbados?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2013

Just came back from The Cliff with mixed feelings. The restaurant looks beautiful and the stuff is quite friendly and attentive. The décor is nice and the view from table by the water we got was excellent. Got to see stingray fish too. Vine list is quite large, but there are very few reasonable vines for under 100 BBD per bottle. We tried Pinot Gris from Oregon 2011 (100 BBD or so) - it was not good at all - way too young - nothing compared to Alsacian Pinot Gris we had in Tides for 96 BBD. The menu prices are kind of fixed to 245 BBD per two course; I had a Tai salad with beef and Cajun swordfish. Both were ok, but made me think, whether I would ever pay $60 US per salad anywhere else?!
I liked there coffee a lot and has a very fine rum in the end. The end of the story is 930 BBD or so bill for the 3 of us. It is not uncommon to pay 200 BBD per person for a dinner in Barbados, but this one was beyond my comprehension. Although it was fine experience, I will never come back just because of the price.

“Top class food and atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

I was recommended this restaurant by people at home but was slightly apprehensive because of the price. My husband surprised me, he only booked in the morning and we got a first class table at the bottom of cliff with beautiful views. It is the quiet season in August so perhaps we were lucky as I know others have booked months in advance. It was certainly the best meal I have ever had, yes quite expensive but worth spoiling yourself. The food was fantastic as was the wine and the service. I am not sure how many waiters per table are allocated but they react so quickly to you. The deserts were magnificent, recommend the chocolate one with banana.

To add to the evening, we were on the next table to a famous actor and another one two tables away.

Felt spoilt and not sure how others in Barbados will now compare.

“What a great experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

What a great experience we had last night at 'The Cliff'. Amazing range of cocktails, many of which are unique to the cliff along with some old favourites, followed by a meal that was second to none.Service was impecable and attentative, without being intrusive.Had some 'first timers' with us last night who were blown away by the whole experience. Food was exceptional and wine list is extensive and priced for all pockets. Desserts to literally 'die' for. p.s. - a great place for celeb spotting!

“Really worth the money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

Last year we resisted but this year decided to try it - really glad we did!

From the moment we arrived it was clear it was a special place. Quickly shown to table which was magnificent right over the sea.

The table setting was beautiful and we were encouraged to look at the stingrays which was lovely,

Menu was extensive and superb and all 5 of us found what we wanted.

Little moan - bread was left in basket on table and not served.

Food was truly excellent and surprisingly generous portions. The range was excellent - we tried fois gras (excellent) tuna tartare ( wonderful) and the spring roles which were enormous!

Main course selection was equally broad and again tuna was wonderful as were all the other things selected.

Puddings were quite a spectacle - my daughters enjoyed the one which was set alight ( something bomb)and my wife had the melting mercury - both were excellent and worth the cost.

What really made the experience was the service which was attentive but not oppressive.

Total cost amounted to BD$300 per head but that did include a bottle of wine.

We all agreed that this was our favourite restaurant and in our opinion tipped Cin Cins to first place.

Dont spoil the ambiance by mentioning on the menu "holiday vouchers" - it just cheapens the offering and makes you think that everyone else is getting a deal!

If you need to carry on with them - insist they mention it at the time of booking and simply give them a different menu so the rest of us don't know as we don't need to. We mistakenly thought that there were supplements for certain items which given the fixed cost of BD$240 would be a little inappropriate.

And finally - much as we love kids perhaps you should ask that children under a certain age have gone by a certain time?
